I'm talking about the live action movie by Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg which is based on the original Transformers animated series from the 1980's.

The characters, or better say vehicles/robots have been redesigned though to look more convincing I guess.
Optimus Prime is still a truck but Bumblebee is not a VW Beetle but a Camaro now. Megatron seems to look like a futuristic space jet instead of a Walther P1 handgun while Starscream now is a F/A-22 Raptor instead of the F-15 Eagle.

The trailer is also available at TransformersTheMovie.com and at YouTube.com

Here is a fanwebsite about all the toylines, cartoon series and comics:

TFArchive - Transformers Toys

Transformers was both produced for the US and Japan including different toylines (Hasbro/Takara).
I'm looking forward to that movie because I loved Transformers during my childhood.

Yeah, my friend wouldnt shut up about it when he found out. If you were to ask me, I think Gundom would be better as far as giant robots go for live action.

Gundam is nice but since I did not follow the Gundam series back then, I have no emotional links with Gundam.
But I grew up with Transformers, so for me it is much more nostalgic that they finally made it to the cinema screens.

I've seen the trailer and it certainly looks promising. I'll definitely check it out. In the meantime, the original 1986 animated theatrical release is now out on DVD for any nostalgia freaks (like me) out there!

👍

I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. I just hope its more like the old school Transformers and not like the new rip-offs they have out now. It would have been cool to have the orignal Starscream actor; Chris Latta, play the part.

the worst series were the CG-animated Transformers Beast Wars.
Totally crap and making the Transformers look not only dull but also too liveless (yes, they are robots, but they have emotions)

Transformers Armada was ok but still far away compared to the Generation One series.
I'm glad that Starscream remains a fighter jet (modernized from a F-15C to a F/A-22A). But I'm a bit disappointed that Jazz is not a Porsche anymore (from a Martini Porsche they should have made him to a Porsche Turbo or GT-R).
I just hope that they bring enough original characters back on screen since it was said that the movie is based on the first season of the original Transformers series.
