The Tokyo Cycling Club (TCC) has the pleasure of announcing its second bicycle excursion to Kawagoe on March 21st, 2006 (Vernal Equinox Day, ﾂ春窶｢ﾂｪ窶堙娯?愿ｺ).

The TCC, a joint project of e-Wadachi and JREF, comprises Japanese and foreign bicycle aficionados and aims at promoting friendship and cultural exchange between cyclists from Japan and elsewhere.

All dedicated cyclists are welcome! If you are not *that* dedicated, don't worry. For those who do need challenge, please join the TCC team in the 3rd Mt. Fuji Hill Climb in June.

Worst part is biking to Ikebukuro. That's a fast sprint of 45mins from my place. The rest is mostly along Arakawa up to Kawagoe. Semi-rural, if you want. Anyhow, we'll have sweet potatoes, onsen and eventually a few pints back in Ikebukuro.

I did a lot of short road trips back in highschool, but since then never owned a bike. I've been thinking of getting one and working out on it again, but it'll have to be a mountain bike for this area.

Thanks, the tour was a great success. Find more info on the TCC website (the gallery has been updated). We have a hanami meeting next Friday and of course the Fuji Climb in June.

Thanks Thomas san !! I had been planning on getting a bike; maybe a 'urban sports' type. I'm not sure. And I got two cataloges, National/Panasonic and Grand (I think it was) and I was surprized at the price of some of the good models, as much as 35 man yen !! Wow...but one question, here (if I may, ask here) the sizes given are usually up to 500mm, but with the seat all the way down to the post, how high would that be off the ground?

I need to get back in the saddle again...it's been too, too long. (and I need to get rid of the bouncing stuff that has somehow collected around my belt line..hee,hee.....) Thanks again !! See you !!

Tell me about it, also want to lose what I call my "swim ring", lolol.

Btw, there are some formulas that allow you to calculate your bike size. I am 1,91m tall (about 6'3" if I'm not wrong), so the seat tube of my MTB (mountain bike) is 530mm long which is the largest you can find for MTBs in Japan, while I am using 600mm on my cross bike.

Prices can be quite hefty indeed, in particular for ultralight carbon/magnesium frames. Well, beauty has its price.

Wow, nice wheels there, and yeah, that was the name I'd been trying to think of yesterday, GIANT !!

Thanks for site allowing me to figure out what I need. Now I really do like that cross bike--maybe that's what I need rather than a MTB. Now do not having fenders in the back or front present much of a problem, unless it's a rainny day?

And, is there really any advantage to the disk brake style over the usual pad style? That GIANT Rock series looks good, but I really don't think I'd be off road that much, ....I just can't make up my mind !!

Mars, if I were you and had the possibility of zooming mountain trials, I would go for the mountain bike. After all you can ride it in the city too, right? But it is hard to ride a city bike in the hills.

Absolutely! I have used my old MTB mainly as shopping bike. Look at that skillfully arranged basket.
