We are due to get between 2 and 10 inches of heavy/wet snow here in Maine tonight. No cherry blossoms for us in the near future, LOL.Glad I didn't put my snow blower away yet.

Gonna be a bad one it looks like.

Two people dead and a few hurt bad so far in car crashes. The snow is a wet, sticky one that is staying on the tree branches, so chances are lots of people are going to lose their power before it's over. We have 2 inches on the ground and the heavy stuff isn't due for a few more hours. Guess I get to use the snow blower again in the morning. Sure looks Christmas like out there.

All the cherry blossoms here have been gone for nearly a month now. But today is darn near perfect high temp around 22C sunny, and a light breeze. . I am going to the park with my sons this afternoon, it's too nice of a day to stay inside.

Spring in Maine !

WOW, woke up to 10 inches of wet snow and more to come.Temperature is a few degrees below freezing and about 20,000 homes without power, brrrrrrr. My power has flickered, but stayed on so far. This is the first storm the roads are not plowed yet, plows can't keep up.Glad I had today off. Susposed to stop in a few more hours and then the cleanup begins.

Holy crap !!!

Right after I posted the 2 pictures, we lost our electricty. 24 hours later, and it just came on. Having no heat or power here in Maine with below freezing temps sure was awful. I thought sure my pipes were going to freeze. My 30 foot evergreen tree lost the top 10 feet, snapped right off. 90,000 homes in my area lost power due to trees and limbs falling on power lines. Just waiting now for the water to heat up for a shower, haven't been able to wash up since Wednesday. The worst part of the whole ordeal was being away from JREF for 24 hours, UGH!!!

We're actually forecast to have a dusting of snow tonight and tomorrow morning, though further north it should be more, even about 2 inches in Washington, D.C. Do you have wood heat, Uncle Frank?

I was using a little propane heater you use to heat your tent when you camp out. I never worried about needing another heat type, since we never lose power here(or so I thought,LOL). Maybe now , my wife will let me buy that back-up generator I've been wanting. They say another storm may be coming next week, UGH!

We woke up to about half an inch of snow here in Virginia this morning, but it melted pretty fast. I used to live in Alaska, and I've seen all the snow I want to see! We had wood heat and a propane heater in Alaska, but the propane was used without electricity (attached to a propane bottle). It probably didn't have a blower.

UGH! Here we go again.

Another big snow storm due in today. 2 to 6 inches here in Portland and about 1 foot in the mountains. Sure hope I don't lose power again! The 10 inches we got last week is almost melted away , which is nice. Where's spring?

The storm that has killed several people and left millions in damage from Texas to the mid-Atlantic is headed for Maine. Susposed to last Sunday till Tuesday with 3 t0 6 inches of snow followed by 2 to 4 inches of rain. Combine that with high tides and 50 MPH winds & higher gusts for 2 days and it sounds like trouble. Man, hope I don't lose power again, UGH!

We just have rain from that same storm here in Virginia, though there is a tornado warning this evening.

Like a hurricane out there today.

The governer has delared a state of emergency here in Maine. We've had 3 inches of rain so far and they say it will rain from now to Friday, due to the storm stalling. The wind is steady at 30 t0 40 miles per hour now with 70 MPH gusts common. Flooding on the coast is bad with a very high tide combining with the storm. My celler has not flooded for a year but the water is pouring in now. Thousands of people have lost power from the high winds and trees down. Going to have a fun drive to work this morning I think.

WOW, what a storm !

Winds are about 50 miles per hour now. About 50,000 people have lost their power so far. Coming home from my first job this morning took an extra 20 minutes,having to detour around dowed trees and flooded roads. I counted 8 giant trees down. The ocean behind my house is sheltered but has 5 foot waves crashing across the road and high tide is still an hour away. All along the coast here in Portland, piers, business building, and homes are being evacuated by police & fire. Cellars everywhere are flooding real bad. Outside the roads are covered with broken branches and downed wires. None of the traffic lights are working, so every intersection is very dangerous. I think it is bad enough, I might cancel my next patient and stay home to be safe. Kind of an exciting day!

Bad luck, good luck...

My beautiful 30 foot pine tree in my back yard just came crashing down. It has weathered bad storms for the 25 years we have been here, but this storm took it down. The good news is, it missed my neighbors garage and the business building next to it, no damage done. I'll post some pictures of it when the storm lets up.

Well, so far 2 dead and millions in damage.

There are 50,000 without power here in Portland tonight. It was unbelievable how many trees have blown down.A mother and her little girl drowned trying to cross a flooded road. Tonight when high tide hits again, at least 7 homes are going to wash out to sea just south of us. They recorded a wind gust of 81 miles per hour near us this morning, probably the one that took down my tree, LOL. Today was classed as a catagory 1 hurricane for Portland, glad my roof didn't blow off.Many homes around me have from 2 to 7 feet of water in the cellars. Hundreds of roads in the area are washed away or are under water and unusable. I guess a large part of the US has been hurt bad by this storm.

That sounds really bad, Uncle Frank - they should interview you on the Weather Channel! There was a reporter in Massachussetts showing the waves crashing into houses, etc. They mentioned Portland, Maine and that some annual race or something had to be canceled for the first time. We had wind here in Virginia today, some gusts up to 45 mph, but of course not as bad as it is further north.

Wow! Can't complain about the cold weather we're having--when it's supposed to be the most beautiful part of the year here in Japan!
