This is ... strange!

Wow!!! My mother used to often tell me...as I have at least once mentioned before on the forum...'it takes all kinds (of people to make the world go 'round).'

Indeed - ''There's nowt so queer as folk''

I saw a programme about phobias on UK TV. It included a man who had a severe problem with baked beans.

I can kind of relate my experience with Japanese long onions to her reaction agianst pickle.

My mother believed in a weird remedy once and made me wear ground long onions around my throat when I had a terrible cold. That triggered my hatred of long onions; I used to run out of the room when they were put on the table.

I met a kid at a Christening who was afraid of beetroot. When they opened the buffet he threw a fit when he saw beetroot on the table.

Actually I saw this on TV a couple of years ago as a remedy for the common cold. Apparently it's not just your mother!

As I was watching the video, I had such mixed feelings. At first I honestly believed it was some kind of parody, but as I watched it, I came to believe more and more that she was truly afraid. It was so outlandish as to be ridiculous, but at the same time, it was impossible to not feel sympathy for the poor girl. Well, I hope she can get over her phobia some day....

My friend's dog was afraid of crackers - it would run away if they were around. I don't mean Christmas crackers which made a loud bang, but crackers that are eaten with cheese.
We never found out why he was scared of crackers.

Christ on a crutch! That's GOTTA be a gag! Phobic? Of pickles? What's next? Asparagus? Beets? Succatash? Still, that was so-ooooooooo funny!

:D :D :D :D :D
