U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel is known to explore Tokyo on foot and by train. He officially visited Yokosuka Base by train (Keikyu Line) and walked to the Japanese Foreign Ministry from the US embassy after presenting his credentials at the Imperial Palace. What a refreshing change from the usual boring and stiff diplomatic protocol. Bravo! :)

I don't say this to be critical of Chicago (I have a sister there right downtown and a kid in Evanston), but he is probably enjoying and luxuriating in doing what he cannot do at home.

Would have been great to get a selfie with them.

Especially these days. I didn't care much for him as mayor but under Lori Lightfoot, and Kim Fox, violence and crime has gotten really bad.
