The forum's forum

My family has a dog, but i have a fish tank. I like fish better, but then again, I am sort of strange.

I have a fishtank at home aswell...the only problem is that the fish have all died of old age:( and now there's an empty fishtank standing in our living room. It is sorta amusing though...people see the fishtank and try to spot some fish😊 they all look at me really strange when i tell them there are no fish...like: you crazy person why do you have and empty fishtank in your living room?:D

Hey, I never read this thread before! I guess you could call it Thread of Random Chat... :)
Get plastic fish! :p
I had two goldfish when I was little... they both died... I kept getting other pairs (I always called them by the same names! XD) but they always died... I moved on to gerbils, and had a good success rate at keeping them alive! 👍 ... somehow, furry animals seem more affectionate than fish... :-)

Wow recently a lot of dutch signed up in here !! I have seen already 4 new dutch in one month !!! Cool!!! stay around please... voel me eenzaam soms, zo alleen... ik kan niet zonder jullie.... blijf blijf hahaha I think I am desperate for some dutch hommies in here haha.. This thread seems like it could be fun, but it's hardly used! There's only two pages and it was started in 2002! Which is also kind of an achievement I guess :)

And to Dutch Baka, it does seem like there are quite a few Dutch people around here, ne? I'm still amazed I already saw so many in such a short time!

Anyhoo, I really think this thread should get more pages, so I'm going to make that my mission and poste nonsence here at least once a week :D

But... I'm actually in my exam week right now....... and since I have my Japanese oral exam in two days, I really have to get back to learning, or I will never make it! :auch: :(

Don't Take Life For Granted

This didn't seem to fit under the "Bummer and Rant" Thread nor did it seem to fit under the "Something Wonderful Happened to me Today", so I will put it here.

Do not ever take your life for granted as it could be gone in a split second!

Last night I was driving back from my run in my 18-wheeler when my brakes slowly started to lock up. I was able to pull off onto the shoulder of the highway, but was only about three inches inside the white line and could not move my truck any further. I followed procedure and callled breakdown and they put me in touch with a mechanic about an hour away. While I was talking to the mechanic I noticed that these damn big rigs were whizzing by me at 70+ mph and a few were too damn close for comfort. I thought I may just get hit.

The mechanic asked that I push in the button for my trailer and go to the rear to see if one of the chambers were leaking air. When the coast was clear I got out, went to the right side of the truck and proceeded down the trailer until I got to the rear wheels. I bent down and sure enough one of the brake chambers was leaking air. As I was bending down and talking to the mechanic on the cell BAM! a big rig slammed right into the back of my trailer!

Without hardly thinking, I instinctively threw myself into the brush and the small ditch thinking that the trailer may just fall on me and kill me. It's amazing what goes through your mind in a millisecond! Realizing that the trailer didn't fall I looked up, got up and saw the other rig driving down the road leaving a trail of debris. He didn't even stop! The rear of my own rig was pushed about a foot further to the right. If I didn't jump it may have just hit me. I don't know.

What happened was that he side-swiped me with his cab and trailer putting a huge gash into the top and side of my trailer and completely wiping out the left side of my trailer! The gashes stopped about a foot from the front of my trailer and I had no damage to my cab. Had he been just a few more inches to the right he would probably have hit me square in the back of the trailer with his passenger side and I could've been killed or severly injured.

I called the state troopers and they arrived and filed a hit and run accident report. About 2 hrs later, while I was having my truck repaired, a big rig pulls over in front of me and I notice that the entire right side of his trailer is torn down the side and part of his cab is severely damaged. He returned to the scene wanting to call the state troopers and tell them what happened! I guess he had too much damage to not return to the scene I don't know. But I do know he was NOT charged with a hit and run or leaving the scene of an accident! Unbelievable! I wonder what he had in his rig that "he had to get rid of?"

Anyway, what I want to say here is that you never know when your life may end. It can come when you least expect it and, after 51 years on this planet, that realization has just set in as it was the closest I had come to death so far. In the blink of an eye you could be gone.

I think when I awake tonight I will have a new outlook on life and will live everyday as if it may be my last because last night it almost was. No longer will I take life or my family for granted thinking I may live forever!

Thanks for letting me vent!

We can thank our lucky stars that you were uninjured.

That was a close call. Thank goodness you are okay. Other driver sounds a bit of a dickhead to me

Don't trucks in the US have limiters on them? In the UK all trucks have a 56 mph limiter on them, except older ones and 7.5 ton lorries. Pain in the arse when you want to get home quick.

Only company trucks have "limiters". For example, I drive a company truck and I am limited at 68 mph. But Independent owners and other companies that hire "Independent Contractors" aren't limited. Some of them whiz past me at night doing in excess of 80mph! Also, in the US all trucks are limited to 40 Ton GVW - 80,000 lbs - and none are limited to a certain speed. Companies limit their trucks due to the lower insurance costs, but there isn't a law, per se, to limit all trucks although I think there should be. 70 mph is fast enough in my opinion! Based on the damage, I figure the truck that hit me was going about 75mph in a 70 mph zone. But the police in the states usually give a +9 mph "zone" over the posted speed limit which is 55 mph in the cities and 70 - 80 mph in the country areas. Some idiots have even passed me doing close to 90-100mph and I am not exagerrating!

Wow. Glad you're still here, Pachipro!

Oh but for the ways of unforseen occurances... !! Yes, I am very, very glad that you are ok Pachipro san !! That did sound like an ordeal, and a close call. I think I can, in some way, feel the sensations running through your mind as you replay that event and the narrow escape in your mind, as I once had a rather unpleasant meeting with a Chevy pickup truck when I was 19. The old Nissan 210 wagon I was in met it head-on, and I got a taste of the front windsheld pretty good.

I hope all else goes well !! Thanks for sharing with us !! MM

I'm wondering how many posts I need until I can post links and such, lol.

And why am I not in bed?
This is the second night I've stayed up.

I should really go to bed...

Did you hear this one member who is having a relationship with this other member from the Chit chat section...

Ow my godddd are you serious!!!!!! I love him sooooo muchhhhhhhh... why did he do that?

................. Does this post make any sense?

I'm blond now and everyone likes it very much. But I'm quite tired of being called a dumb blond so I'm seriously thinking of dying my hair in a really dark color...depends on how happy I am, I guess. When I'm drinking some nice cappu and listening to my fav music, I'll prob have it chocolate-brown, or perhaps coffee-brown. However when I'm pissed off I tend to do drastical things....how about painting it raven-black? Perhaps I should go for the Angelina Jolie-look. I did that a while ago, and I actually looked quite like her ;p. However Liv Tyler-look would be great too. Difficult, that hair of mine. As usual I have no clue what to do. tssss.

I'm sad because my brother drank all the coke in the fridge so now I'm stuck drinking apple juice and water -_-;;

@Juno: Nice GAZE sig you got there :p. I'm sick of the 'dumb blonde' thing too, my hair is naturally blonde. I got it dyed dark brown with a blonde chunk like one of my favourite band members from alice nine..
