Temple Girls

Hello Everyone,
My girlfriend is the third child of a temple owner. She is a modern girl with a traditional side to her personality.
My question is this... I am British, I was married, I have two children by that marriage - they live with their mother. I am a Buddhist and practice Buddhism every day. I want to marry this girl, but I became scared by something someone said to me last night... They said 'Japanese temple girls only marry Japanese Temple boys. As a white guy, who is not from the Temple, you have no chance - especially as you have two children as well!!'
I realize that every case is different, but has anyone else heard of this 'rule' before?

Why don't you just ask her? I mean, she IS your girlfriend... You're not gonna come back and say, "Oh, but she is very traditional. I wouldn't wanna offend her by asking such a sensitive question." now, are you?

I do not know any temple girls personally, so I don't really know... BUT my common sense tells me that the"someone" who told you that they would only marry Japanese temple boys didn't know what they were talking about either.

Anyway, just ask her if she is serious about the relationship or she is just dating you casually before the tradition sets in and she dumps you for a nice Japanese temple boy.

Never heard about such a rule... is she Buddhist or Shintoist?

There is one tried and true question that seems to work in every culture. Ask if she plans to introduce you to her parents.
