Symbol Identification Help

Hi! I've got another mystery symbol. Can someone please identify what this is and paste it in this thread in text format? I'm not able to get an exact match on any lanuage recognition website (hopefully it is Japanese ). There are some additional scribbles surrounding the symbol but hopefully you can still recognize what the main symbol is. Thank you!

wow, THAT'S the たん in たんぱく質?

That was confusing and then I realized I'd never seen it written in kanji

Yeah, 蛋 is 常用外, so 蛋白質 is often written as タンパク質, たんぱく質 or even たん白質.
I didn't know 蛋 meant "egg" until reading the wiktionary page Majestic-san provided. So, たんぱく literally means "egg whites". Interesting. (By the way, I initially (mis)read the image as 蚤 "flea".)

Very close! It looks like your finding is identical except for that part on the bottom right (see image). Could you please paste the symbol without that addition? Then it will be an exact match to my original screenshot. The part in the bottom right in the original screenshot is not actually a part of the kanji symbol, though I realize that's hard to tell.

huh? the bottom of 蛋 is 虫

that stroke isn't missing

The text Majestic-san provided is completely the same as the image you pasted.

The symbol that Majestic suggested does not appear to be identical to the one in the screenshot I originally posted. What you see in the bottom right on the original image is not part of the kanji symbol (I think), though it can easily be mistaken that it is. See the comparison image below. The bottom right part of the symbol with the blue arrow pointing to it should be removed. Then it will be identical to my original screenshot. Is this possible?

Your understanding is not correct. The slash at the bottom right is exactly a part of the kanji. See 蛋 in various fonts. The "slash" is always there, right?

I see, so it is not possible to have the symbol Majestic suggested but without that slash at the bottom right, is that correct?

There is no kanji without the slash. Simply, it doesn't exist.

Okay, thank you for the explanation, and thank you for your help Majestic! The original screenshot is poor quality, I was mistaken to think the slash was not a part of the actual kanji symbol. My bad!
