The topping of the azuki bean is carried out covering powdered-green-tea syrup over shaved ice.
It's called shaved ice in Hawaii and snow cone in Cali and other parts of the U.S. A special treat in Hawaii is shaved ice with azuki beans at the bottom covered with vanilla ice cream then covered with shaved ice with the flavor of your choice.

According to one report, shaved ice was introduced into the States by a nikkeijin who bought a kakigori machine from Japan and started a business on Oahu (Hawaii). He did very well with this new dessert and it spread to the "mainland".
