Suggest a Country

If you don't mind learning the language, I'd suggest the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, Sweden, etc. These countries are among the most liberal you will find on earth.

Depends what you are looking for. If you are gay (and want to marry your partner), enjoy cannabis, and think that abortion and euthanasia should be legal, then the Netherlands is the best bet.

If it's about the separation of Religion and State, then France might be the most advanced.

Canada is a beautiful country, very very friendly people,we are similar to the US in some ways but our culture is different.

however, if you are coming to Canada, please be aware that:
for the letter Z , we pronounce it like Zed instead of Zee
some of us says the word 'Eh' alot
some of us holds a grudge against Americans, so when you tell a Canadian that you are an American, you have to tell them that you hate Bush.
WE hate Bush.
strikes - yes, strikes all the time, bus drivers, teachers, but don't worry, policemans and firefighters can not go on strikes.
Molson Canadian TV commercials...if you have this American pride thing, just don't watch them, but i love those commercials, they are funny
our government is weak.
high taxes

oh, one important thing

HOCKEY

if you come to Canada, try to like hockey, but if you don't, then :
if you hate hockey, keep that to yourself, don't say that in public, or else i don't know what would happen to you
be prepared : to see six pages of hockey news in newspaper, sportsnews spending half an hour to talk about hockey, and you see many many hockey games on tv everyday

Only American people say "zee". When I first read about EZweb in Japan (AU's mobile phone internet service), I read it "eezed web". It took me a while to realise that it was the US pronuciation and should be read "easy web". 😌

some of us says the word 'Eh' alot

Probably not as much as the Japanese. 😌

WE hate Bush.

Again, it's more universal than unique to Canada. :-)

high taxes

Higher than in Western Europe ? What's your consumption tax like ? In the EU it's between 15% and 25%.

Doc, Australia is nice. Especially Brisbane. That's where I live-----------.

I once thought about moving to Canada, but the idea of six months of cold was not appealing.
The taxes in Canada might be high compared to the US, but not compared to the UK. Last time I was there I filled the rental car up with Petrol. It cost me about $15 canadian, which is about 7 quid. I told my cousin and she said that it was disgusting the high price of petrol! I told her to fill that car in the UK would cost about $40 canadian. She was a little stunned to say the least.
What I do find annoying about Canada and the US is that the prices on items does not include the various taxes. In Britain if it says 9.99 you will pay 9.99.
