Hi, I sure hope I`m posting this in the correct forum. I`m not a native English speaker so please don`t kill me because of my bad grammar and spellings. *bow bow bow*
Either case, I`m currently studying Japanese under a pre-college visa together with my husband at the Yamasa Institute, and we handed over the applications for our extensions the 15th February as we intend to study for a full time of 2 years. Only problem is that around august he fell into a deep depression, which had its roots from way before the studying begun. Since then he`s being medicated and visiting a psycologist every second week. He`s getting better, but its going slowly and his total attendance is as low as 63% for the whole year. He really wants to get well and start studying 100% again as this has been one of his dreams since many years back. Plus there`s the fact that if he suddenly stop taking the medication we aren`t sure what`ll happen to him mentally which is a big worry. (He`s taking Soloft and apparently about a half year is necessary to safely get off the medication)
We got a letter from his doctor (in Japanese ofcourse) saying that he`s visiting him frequently, that he`s making "satisfactory progress" and that if he keeps this up he`ll be able to lead a normal student`s life "soon". However, with this in mind, what do you think his chances are in terms of the visa extension? Considering the low attendance, doctors certificate, and his grades which are on a scale 1-4 where 1 being the best, 3, 3 and 2. (Acceptable, acceptable and very good)
A bit over 2 weeks have passed now and still we haven`t seen anything from that postcard we`re supposed to get back after it`s all processed. The only thought keeping both of us calm right now is that two other guys at school who handed in their applications the same day as us hasn`t gotten a reply either. But how long is this supposed to take? I was told 1-2 weeks, but the guy who told me that wasn`t so sure himself...
(As for myself I`ve taken a lot of time off to be with him during the days when he`s the most blue, which has resulted in my attendance being around 86%, but my grades are better, being 2, 2 and 1. (very good, very good and excelent) plus my attendance being over 80% which means I should be ok, right?... right? >.>)
