Hi again guys, I'm translating "Anata ga koko ni iru riyuu" by Rie Fu and I need some help with a particular verse...

ないものねだり
naimono nedari
Asking for too much

私にはないものを
Watashi ni wa naimono wo
For the things I dont have.

あなたが持ってるはず
anata ga motteiru hazu
You should be carrying them.

I understand that "naimononedari" is a verb that means to "ask for too much" but I dont quite understand "Watashi ni wa naimono wo" is it saying "The thing that I dont have.."? If I understand it correctly the full sentence is "watashi ni wa naimono wo naimononedari" or "I ask too much for the things which I dont have". Is this correct?

Also I'm not quite certain about this last line...Anata ga motteiru hazu. I think I can translate as "You should be carrying them (by now)." I'm a bit uncertain about the function of "hazu"

ないものねだり alone is a noun meaning "asking for something that does not exist"

The last two lines, わたしにはないものを、あなたがもっているはず should be something like, "I know that you have something that I don't have.".

はず can be translated as "I am certain/pretty sure that..., It is certain that..., It is supposed to..., I am convinced that.... etc.

Oh wow! thanks! that cleared things right up! ^^

I've amended the lines to:

ないものねだり
naimono nedari
Asking for something that doesnt exist

私にはないものを
Watashi ni wa naimono wo
Something that I dont have

あなたが持ってるはず
anata ga motteiru hazu
I know for certain you are carrying it.

持ってる: the contraction of 持っている; to have/to have been having

持ってく: the contraction of 持って行く; to carry/to bring
