I live near Izumo Taisha, It is a pretty amazing place. I highly recommend it at new years.

RE: No reply posts so far has pointed out that the pic is Kinkaku pavilion in Rokuonji Temple, which is not Shinto but Buddhist

I don't think 'becoming shinto' is that easy, because as far as i know, it's bound to certain places. You have to be at a Kami's place to feel it's power, I guess.

Edit: What an old thread - sorry didn't get that.
