Hello, I'm a high school student currently doing research for a paper on the rivalry between the ancient authors Sei Shonagon (writer of the Pillow Book) and Murasaki Shikibu (writer of the Tale of Genji). I was hoping for some feed back on my chosen topic, and any recomendations for online recorces would be very helpful. Thank you!😌

If I remember correctly, Prof. Donald Keene mentioned about Murasaki Shikibu's personality in his book under the title of Travelers of a Hundred Ages.
See if your local library owns the book, or it may be an idea to buy a second-handed one at Amazon.
Publisher: Columbia University Press; New Ed edition (May 15, 1999)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 0231114370
ISBN-13: 978-0231114370
I read the Japanese version, but I guess it is the same content.

Hojo Masako , wife of Minamoto Yoritomo who built the first shogunate, burnt down a house of Yoritomo's lover. (Some) Japanese women have not been feeble.

Updated
I browsed the book today. He mentioned Lady Murasaki in it.

I have some reading material that touches on this, but it's all in Japanese...
