Road Trip! from osaka

Got access to a car!

Where is a fun place to go only accessibly by car from Osaka? Looking for a day trip. Been to most of the major major areas. Minor weird out of the way suggestions please!

I guess you've already been there for the beautiful beach in summer, but it sounds nice to me to go and see the quiet "crystal beach". And fresh seafoods at Wakasa bay.

Route 42
is a national road along with Kii peninsula.
I don't know if this is doable for your day trip, but it was my exiting trip except when I was in Hokkaido .

I think about 4 hour driving distance one way would be the limit!

Ideas:

Ninja museum in Ueno - though reachable by piblic transport apparently (don't know how easy - drove myself) - Of mild interest - there's also the "residence of theninja's boss" which is a drive away but haven't been myself

Biwako - nice to drive around the lake and enjoy the great outdoors, though not so weird unless you run into one of the pirahnas...

KawachiNagano cycle center - again reachable by public transport, but most places are though connections can be crap.

a few onsens around around where you can take a dip in weird liquids, though not so big on hot springs myself...

nothing altogether really weird and out of the way that I know of.

Ended up going to Kamaoka in Kyoto for some hiking! Thanks for the tips though!
