Rich deemed innocent of fatal DUI because rich, spoiled

At least your argument is better than "rich people are better humans." ;)

Rich people in general have higher education, more industrious, commit less crime, contribute more to society by paying more taxes and have higher consumption (consumption contribute to economic growth).

Money don't just fall from the sky, people have to work to earn it, or inherit from previous generation who had to work to earn it.

Did Zorro bring up minor sex in this case? Was I not surprised?

Why would you be if anybody brought it up? There is a short list of things adults wring their hands about letting teens do. Drive cars is one. Have sex is another. You don't find it odd that there are no legal repercussions for letting a teen drive one ton of death, even if he is clearly irresponsible?

Can't even remember the last time I brought up adult/minor sex here either. Could be months.

But YOU won't let it go will you?

It was an apt tangent, whether you like it or not. Or should I have mentioned brain surgery? That's right, brain surgery. Last time I talked about sex and minors, that is what someone brought up, saying we don't let minors do brain surgery. We don't let most adults do it either! But I doubt you would have had such an issue with it.

I have a hard time seeing a punch as intending murder, though it was definitely an intent to harm. Comparing the two though, speeding while heavily intoxicated seems to be the more dangerous of the two actions. As I mentioned to Hezam, drinking and driving campaigns have been in heavy rotation for over thirty years in North America. Nobody is unaware of the dangers, which is why it is usually so stiffly sentenced.

I agree and disagree with certain aspects of both your statements.

Basically, I don't see drinking and driving as being as dangerous as punching people. Most drunk drivers get home with no damage. Punched people definitely feel pain.

But neither intended to murder we cannot escape that. That said, the rich teen was not just a little tipsy. Nor just drunk. According the BAC, he was ripped out of his gourd. Even the usual inaccuracy of BAC tests could not account for readings that high off a person NOT drunk out of his gourd.

Another key difference is that the punchers no doubt punched off the cuff. The rich kid had LOADS of time to consider the possible consequences of his actions.

I would give the rich kid a few years in prison. The punchers probably a year each.

BTW, FW, love him or hate him, he sure got this thread going!
