I hit my foot and it wasn't painful or debiltating but now it red and easily indented. I had lots other back problems and bone problems which distracted me. I also have those black bands on my feet. Is dermatologist the right specialist or some other type?

Sounds like you need to see a podiatrist who specialize in foot problems. Usually here in the US , you first go to your regular doctor (if you have one) and then he sends you to the doctor you need.

Podiatrists are rare in Japan. They are a new phenomenon. Actually not quite my foot just above with swelling into the ankle.

I would try your 内科 first. I think dermatologists focus on skin, so I don't think I would start with that.

Often swelling in that area has to do with blood flow problems involving veins & arteries. If you can recline on a bed or chair with the ankle area higher in elevation than the heart as often as possible , it may help the swelling go down. I agree a dermatologist probably is not the type of doctor you need. They tend to take care of the skin surface , not what lies deeper under the skin. In some cases applying a cold pack for 20 minutes at a time helps with swelling , but I would see a doctor before doing that.

My wife says on the internet it says I should see an orthopedic surgeon 整形外科 I have found those doctors to be useless. For Any severe musclle/ bone pain, all they prescribe is a medicated pad( shippa) that you can at pharmacy. Sometimes there is inhouse treatment.

Well, realistically, most medical treatments for something like this is to wait for it to get better while trying not to make it worse. Doctors can't heal you, only your body can heal itself. Doctors can help with pain management of course and sometimes with helpful medications or surgeries. You could try salonpas for the pain.

There are anti-inflammatories. Human is always part of healing itself in any medical treatment even autoimmune disease- the human body needs to get back something like normal.
