Racism towards China

Japan's relationships with other Asian countries perplex me. It seems like Japan has gained respect for Korea especially recently as Korean TV and entertainment has increased in popularity and Korea is becoming wealthier. But as for China, Japan has very little respect for it I think far less than the Western media who are recognising it as a rising power with a long and great history. I don't think it can be linked with Japanese racism of the past since older Japanese people eg. Japanese men aged 60 or 70 seem to have a higher opinion of China than in general. Japanese media seem to tend to represent China as endless, uncultured, potentially dangerous, dirty.
 
The key word is " modernization ".

It's true,China falls short of " global standard " in many aspects,but that country is getting a " bad break " and faces endless " demonization " from Western media.

How can they possibly hope to succeed if everybody is expecting them to fail. In all honesty, I think there are many people who want them to fail, who dont want them to succeed specifically those countries once victimized China in the 19th & 20th centuries.

It's downed for over 150 years,but it's not out as China is longest ever survived civilization.

All Chinese know that Western & Japanese ( for being in the game with Western people ) wish China " ill " & want to see China divided.
 
how exactly have you noticed "Japan's" lack of respect for China? So far I only see conjecture.
 
I have been to Japan on vacation for 10 days,so my exposure to local media news reportings of China is limited.However,Japanese ( at all of-course ) typically think " ill " or " negative " of Chinese people in general based on my direct contacts online.
 
come on, even you should know better than to base such opinions on "contacts online."

Trust me,it's a general consensus among Chinese ( mainland China Hong Kong Macau Taiwan Singapore )
 
I would agree that economics plays a large degree. I think 1st world countries tend to look down upon 3rd world countries.

That makes only Japan and South Korea the only ones not in Asia's not look down upon status. Also, even some Japanese war crime deniers have noted the similarities between Japanese and Korean culture. Perhaps similarity of makes things easier.

Even if Japan and South Korea don't get along in areas of war crimes, they appear to agree on anti-Han sentiment.

Anti-Han sentiment is shared by a lot of people. For one the people who think Tibet and Taiwan and other independence wanting groups deserve it. China seems to think everywhere in Asia belongs to them. And then there's the sheer number of Han Chinese. The Chinese population is a cause of Sinophobia around the world.

Japan is very anti-communistic, so they would to a degree fear and resent China because of this. I mean think of all the censorship and such caused by China's government.
 
Japan is the only non-communist Asian country has Communist Party

Oh,former J prime minister Yasuhiro Nakasone 中曽根 康弘 accused America in one major US news magazine interview that it has allowed " conmunist party " to exist in Japan so there is a " poisonous snake " roaming in his home country.

Bring here the examples of what you call "endless, uncultured, blah, blah..." by the media for discussion here.

But at that time, many conservative right-wing activists in Japan assisted Chinese activists. And this thread is about the stupid J media now.

Me am willing to support bashing the stupidity, but me cannot do it without concrete examples by the OP.
 
I know many people that hate China and want to see China to be blown away, but I also saw other people wishing the same for Japan. There is racism everywhere in the world, but what's the point of racism? If you are a racist then why do you eat spaghetti while you are american? Or why does an european eat Japanese food if we are just "Chinese" in their eyes? Or why do we eat all Noodles (Ramen) if we hate China so hard?

I can't admit I hate China and some other countries too, but racism is based on hate-feelings towards a culture or person.

What China is doing is enlarging their empire by capturing on a legal way the world!
And that is wrong!
 

You are correct. I personally do not hate Chineses. But I don't like the way they oppress Tibetans by enlarging their empire.

Certain Chinese habits make them look uncivilized to foreign eyes.
The Chinese citizens in general are not civic-minded, to say the least.

Current anti-Chinese sentiment is not linked exclusively to Japan or 20th century Japanese-Sino relations. China is disliked by many around the world due to their wish to be welcomed onto the world stage and gain the keys to world-power status while maintaining their secretive and heavy-handed approach to basic rights and freedoms, not to mention a terribly out-dated and unsustainable approach to development. Of course, this is not the fault of the Chinese people, it's the communist party who is to blame.

Many Chinese residing here in Canada are disgusted with their homeland's treatment of Chinese farmers as well as how the party is handling the Tibetan situation.

If you want to link to graphic/gross pictures (with a warning that they are) , it "might" be allowed. As for posting them here on the forum where young children can see them , PLEASE DO NOT !!!!!! They will be deleted and could result in a member being banned. That should go for gross pictures of animals as well as people. THANKS!!!
