Is there any info on the reverse side of the photo or any other details that came with it?

I am not sure what キャンテ (the word under that peculiar logo) is supposed to mean: キャンテ for "cantilever", or is it キャンティ for "chianti"? It is most likely a company name.

Anyhow, it seems to be a farewell ceremony for departing troops.

Unfortunately there is not any info or date on the reverse. I´m afraid that the logo and the name is the only information.

I consulted my wife, but she couldn't discern the characters on the paper lanterns either. I'm curious about that strange figure on top: it looks like a monkey or a daruma. Perhaps @Toritoribe san has more ideas.

The name of the soldier written on the lanterns would be 内田一男 Uchida Kazuo. This is a very common name, so it's nearly impossible to identify him just by the name, unfortunately.

I think the character is daruma.

Isn't it possible to show us a higher resolution picture? There are kanji in the circles on the signboard. (The fourth on might be 壹(= 壱/一) or 臺(= 台).

I think its キャンデー and the store is a candy store (but I don't know where).
The last one is a store selling lanterns, I think. 万門提灯店, but my detective skills end there.

I, too, think it's キャンデー. The first four kanji in the circles on the signboard are 製造販賣 manufacturing and selling, so it might be a store that makes and sells candy.
