LOL. Sorry... not for me to judge. I must have read something on one of your posts somewhere last night. If I recall correctly, something about being an athiest and also mentioning something about immorality in the same post? Hmmm.

Atheism & morality aren't antipodes, you don't need to be a deist to have morals. But that is a whole new discussion, maybe you should open a new thread.

Sorry, I misread immorality for immortality. It would make more sense to ask someone who doesn't believe in god whether he believes in "immortality" (e.g. life after death). I thought you had read this thread about life after death (something I somehow believe in, but not in the spiritual sense => see post #5 in this thread).

As for immorality, it has nothing to do with god ! In fact, being extremely logical, I cannot understand how Christians who believe in an omniscient and omnipotent god can believe in immorality. If god created us and has the power to read our minds, and influence us, why would he/it create such a thing as (im)morality in our minds instead of creating us as purely moral beings that cannot do anything wrong ? What's more, real morality depends on the principle of "hurting or causing damage to another person" (a bt like "civil law"), not on a set of rigid rules that haven't evolved along with society in thousands of years. For example, lying can be immoral if it could cause some harm to others (e.g. some cheating on his/her partner, getting a STD and not saying it). No need to believe in god or in any religion to understand and agree with that.

doesnt christianity explain that the "devil" wanted us to be perfect and not have any guilt or anything. i think that the basis off immorality is the wonderful question, what is bad? immoraility should differ from region to region because of religion. religion makes people think about whats wrong or right. even if someone is not religious they will in the most part share the same beliefs about whats right and wrong. if japan seems "immoral" maybe its because of the different beliefs from that of a westerner. as for god creating immorality in our minds, you have to remember that (in christianity) god put us here to be tested to go to heaven. it would make sense that we would have both immoral and moral behavior, otherwise where is the challenge to get to that place we call heaven?
