Over stamped chrysanthemum

Since I received a lot of positive feedback on my last post, I thought I'd posts another one. I'm looking for help on these marking I have on a type 38 carbine that is marked out of service, possibly for a school. Any insight as to the markings or the school it may have gone to would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and as always be well and stay safe.

The mum was overstamped to signify that the rifle was leaving government service. The 00's are a code that was used to designate the removal from government service as well. I have a military reserve 38 that has the same code added to the serial number. Unless your rifle has a specific school marking on the stock it will be quite hard to know where it went. Also the overstamp and the 00's while it greatly increases the chances it is a school rifle, it doesn't necessarily prove that it is. It could have been a rifle for export aboard which would necessitate those same markings. Sadly unless there is a school marking in the stock (it would be pretty obvious if there was) we'll probably never know.
The markings after the koshikawa arsenal mark (given your serial number, I believe your carbine is from the koshikawa, not kokura arsenal), are proof markings, same thing with the markings on the stock underside.

Sorry it's not letting me link the photo but your stock has what looks like a 名 proof marking which is the marking for the Nagoya arsenal. Your carbine is from the koshikawa arsenal so that's interesting. Nagoya was the go to arsenal for refurbishment so there is a possibility your rifle was arsenal refurbished sometime in its lifetime. Or someone post-war put it in the wrong stock....

Thank you for the reply, and it would make sense that the stock was factory replaced as the only thing not matching on this rifle happens to be the magazine floor plate. That was my original thought also that the plate may have been replaced at a factory refurbish. I have had someone help date this rifle to being made in June 1919.

No problem, heres a link to Francis Allen's 38 datasheet that has some more basic info on the proof markings if you're interested. http://www.castle-thunder.com/datasheets/38ds.pdf , one of them is unknown and I'm not sure about the other. If I recall from a gb thread, which I don't have the best track record of haha, is some of the stamps are kanji from the inspector's name.
