What's in a name?

Some of you guys have the most wonderful profile names.. So this thread is where you can explain what it really means!!

I'll lead by example. My profile name is a variation of my real first names: Leon Marijn. I didn't give it much thought until a few years ago, but Leon means lion (in Spanish, with a ' on the o), and Marijn is derived from Marine, so it means something like "from the sea".. I came to the conclusions my dear parents named me after a Sea-Lion!! （笑） My first thought was: "Why?", quickly followed up by: "I must have been really fat when I was born.." （笑） Anyways, I find Spanish a beautiful language, so I thought I'd name myself Leon Marino; sea-lion in Spanish.

By the way I confronted my parents about this and their reaction was: "Oh.. We didn't know.. That's funny." （笑）

I explained my JREF name before - it is a very rough translation of my real name into Japanese - Caroline = strong = tsuyoi (+ko for a girl's name)

My parents named me after Lord Byron's lover. He is my dad's favourite poet, and now mine too.

Sabro is actually my given name. I was named after Sabro Hasegawa- the painter. It is usually transliterated Saburo ... and it means third son. I do have two older brothers: Sesshu Foster (author of Atomik Aztex) and Paul.

Ma Cherie: Is French for my dear/darling. I have this name because when people say it, they can blush or feel a little embarrassed.

And my high school French teacher used to say it to me.
