OT about the meaning of "stubborn"

I guess some members just can't "let it be". Well you can't deny there isn't an "I don't agree with Maciamo" clique, because some of the usual members involved in Maciamo-related threads/posts are posting here. I suggest it's enough with this provoking and like Dutch said, if you want to ask somebody anything like this, send him/her a pm for crying out loud. To be honest I'm getting sick of this kind of posts/threads.

Actually the first poster, wasn't asking a question to another member as the original comment, so I think you've got slightly the wrong impression. This thread was the result of another thread being split into two. The original "Maciamo, would you classify yourself as stubborn?" question was asked as part of an ongoing discussion about character traits, and probably didn't have the intent that it appears to have after the split was made.

Your comments about private messages and provocative threads are therefore incorrect.

Thanks for pointing out Stinger.
I hate when this happens, as it gives the total wrong impression.

A philosophical thought: Perhaps it could very well be said, and should be pondered over, should it not, that if the sun were not to shine by day, we could not blame the moon for not shining at night. . . whatever second of rotation our single home in space may be at. MM

Yes Stinger thank you for pointing that out. This is not the first time a thread has been split with no notice of the split! It was obviously done to make me look bad when I merely responded to another post with a question trying to gain more insight.

It's simple. In order for someone to act "stubborn" in the eyes of someone else, that someone else has to be nagging or pressuring the smoker to quit. The busybody could be a wife, friend or some do-gooder.

Go back and reread what was posted. I backtracked and allowed it to be called an addiction rather than being stubborn...but I still contend that anyone can quit...they are just too weak and lazy to do so.

wow, I don`t really like a thread like this, especially because the first poster is asking a question to another member (remember we got a pm system, instead of let somebody look bad infront of everybody else... well I guess a lot of people like to do that in here), instead of opening a thread about being Stuborn itself.
Talking about quality threads.
(I really am thinking of leaving Jref, because of the last days!!! to bad some people **** it up for others by talking off topic Japan stuff, and ***** fighting around here!!!!!
I expected better from some of the posters in here.:(

I will assume you mean me? That is fine...I've had enough of this too. I will leave so that you all may be in peace.

I will say this as I leave (I said it in another couple of thread that were conveniently locked!). Maciamo should have forfeited his rights as admin when he fled Japan. He should have also been held just as accountable as Sabro and been on temporary ban to quit all of the bickering that was going on here. He was just as guilty as anyone for escalating things.

Everyone please take care of yourselves.

Goodbye!

Dutch didn't know about the split, so please forgive him for that. As I replied to Stinger's post, it's pretty annoying when threads get split without notice. In this case I agree with you that it's not appropriate. I guess you're a bit stubborn if you would leave now don't you think :) I think there is no need for you to leave, unless you really want to. Take care either way !

Quote:People not dating because of a bad experience is not because of stubborness, it's from a desire not to be hurt. How can you be sure that a person is not going to be happy purely because they choose not to date.

Life has no gaurantees.
What if a 8 year-old boy says that he never wants to date or get married, although he has no experience of it, then once puberty strikes and he actually wants to he refuses himself because he had always said that he wouldn't do it ? Religious people call that "resisting to the temptation". I call that "stubbornness".

You know I was taught that it was impolite to answer a question with a question until you answer the question first.

I fail to understand why you keep on refering to children to make analogies to support your points. I thought the topic was a discussion between adults and how they view you or others, for that matter, and whether they think are stubborn or not?

Why do you bring a "religious" angle into this discussion? From someone that has an obvious disdain for religion I thought that you were pretty much against religion in topic discussions, I don't get your point in raising it here.

I am not going to get involved in that.
