Question Ordering Japanese books

I feel like years ago I was able to order books from Amazon Japan, but I haven't tried in quite a long time now. If I recall correctly, there were only certain things that you could buy from them internationally.

I can't recommend places to purchase books as I am not in Japan (and like Mikawasan it's been a while since I ordered from Amazon.jp. I can, however, recommend how to purchase and have items shipped to you from Japan when you find what you want. If you're having difficulties finding stores in Japan who will deliver directly to your location you can always purchase through a go-between such as ZenMarket, Discover Japan - Buy from Japanese websites worldwide.
I recently (ish, a few months ago or so) ordered a rice cooker from rakuten.co.jp but not directly. I found the item on Rakuten and then made the purchase through Zenmarket and had them order the item from Rakuten, check it, repackage for international shipping and then ship it to me here in Denmark. Shipping and safe packaging was 5000 yen, or $35, which I found quite resonable for such a heavy item (the whole thing weighed around 5kg).
It was a very pleasant experience, I got updates throughout the entire order process, and customer support are English speakers. I even cancelled my first order before it went through and that was easy, too.

It looks like Amazon Japan is still good for ordering books overseas.

I don't know if the link will follow exactly how I set it up, but it's for a book that can be delivered to Australia. On the right hand side of the page, just above "In Stock", it should read "Deliver to Australia". If that's not your destination, you can click on that text and change the destination country.
ETA: It looks like you can also change the delivery destination by clicking the delivery info just to the left of the search bar at the top of the page.
