there are thousands and thousands of posts here on jref and i was just wondering if people have less reservations about posting thoughts, feelings, beliefs etc on this forum (or any other come to think of it) rather than telling someone face to face.
it's something that i find curious. because, although we may have many friends and respected peers here on the forum, ultimately we are pretty much all stangers.
personally, i wouldn't go up to a stranger, or even an aquaintance and tell them some of my more personal things, yet i would have absolutely no reservations about doing it here in the forum.
there are numerous reasons for this.

1. on this forum inparticular i don't feel like i would be laughed at or humiliated or disrespected (you guys are all cool!)
2. i suppose its a bit like faceless therapy. no one knows who you are really.
3. the forum has a friendly atmosphere and personally, i always feel welcome (if i'm not, don't tell me...i'm happy in my little world).
4. it's interesting to see little cliques on the forum that are open and accepting, whereas usually cliques reject 'outsiders'.
5. there's a nice mix of youth and experience...i feel like if i have a question there will defeinately be someone who knows the answer or at least, knows where to find the answer.

i just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this.

I agree.

well on number 1 I'll say... It's true, but I don't really have a fear of that because of number 2.

number 2: faceless therapy indeed. and with the people spread all over the world, you know the chances of running into any of them are minimal at best.

on number 3 I'll say "yes"

and on number 4 I'm saying King Edward (sorry, it's one of those you had to be there jokes of a kid in an old battle of the wits kind of program on swedish TV where the question was something about ingredients in a recipe or something and the kids gave an answer about some king, leaving the audience looking stumped.. apparently they had misheard.. badly.)

on number 5 I'll say "yes".

as for number 4...well, erm...pass?!?!
when i said "i just wondered what peoples thoughts were on this." i didn't neccesarily mean on my points...just generally...but thank you as always for you thoughts!
as for number one...maybe i have an underlying fear of humiliation (that whole dream where it turns out you're sitting in your underwear...or worse, somebody elses underwear...not that that's happened to me of course!). maybe i crave acceptance!
