well....
this summer, i whent to a little thing called Womad....
it's a world cultural music festival and features musicians from around the glob....
now, it wouldn't be much of a WOLRD cultural music festival if they didn't have a Japanese act there.... and sure enough... they did - Oki Dub Ainu Band.
to quote the booklet:
OKI Kano is a master ot the tonkori, a traditional five-string instrument of the Ainu people from the northen Japanese island of Hokkaido. The band's contemporary approach fuses reggae, electronica, and African rhythems with traditional Ainu folk melodies to create a truley unique sound.
and they did exactly that.
i when to their gig.... and i was... spell bound.... i loved every last second of it, and even found myself singing along as, is common in reggae, there was a deal of repitition in the lyrics.
i really enjoyed there set.... but i had no money to buy a CD.
i thought i'd be able to find some of their stuff easilly enough on the internet... but as of yet, i've come up with nothing... only what's on the Womad site it's self.
i'd really like to know more about these guys... so if anyone knows anything?
[note] i've posted this here rather than the jpop borad because.. they're neither jpop nor jrock and... i thought it would get more of a responce here.... however, if i've done wrong, then my sinciar appologies :sorry:
