Lawyer putting foreigners first (The Japan Times)

I've just found this news at Yomiuri-Online. According to the article (in Japanese), a new Lawyer's office is to open in Minato-ku, Tokyo on 15th October. There are already 15 public law offices in Japan, but this is the first office which is specialised for the foreign people living in Japan.
There are six lawyers who are fluent in English and Korean, also interpreter services are available for 9 languages such as Chinese, Portugues, etc.
The article says that there are approx. 2,080,000 foreigners in Japan, and the majority of them are living in Tokyo and its surrounding areas and there are many who need support on legal issues but could not ask for it because of the language barrier.

I think this is a good news and wish to share with other members here.

Thanks for sharing this information, Undrentide-san! I was aware of the legion of "immigration lawyers" whose ads are plastered on buses and buildings around the Shinagawa immigration centre, but it's reassuring to know that comprehensive professional legal aid in foreign languages is now available to NJ-residents, too.
