Hey everyone, it's BlackManJapan
I'm 17 years old(On the 15th), and I'm in my senior year of high school.
After putting some serious though in what I want to do with my life after school, I've decided I want to move out of the United States, and start a fresh life in a different country. Not that there's anything wrong with America... it's just that things have gotten stale... There were 3 countries on a list where I'd want to go if I ever left America, those 3 being The United Kingdom, Germany, and Japan. Out of the 3, Japan does have the largest economy(correct me if I'm wrong and if I'm making myself seem ignorant.), it also has state of the art technology, as well as a rich culture, history, and a unique language.(Not that The UK and DEU don't have those listed previously.) so Japan became my target.
My hobbies include computer assembly, by that I mean building pcs (gaming pcs) listening to music, cooking, and studying foreign cultures and history.
I don't know how difficult the process is to actually get into Japan and start a life there. I heard it's easiest to get in with a job teaching English at public/private schools but I've heard that some companies BS you and try to make it difficult to teach it the way you want to teach, however, I don't think that'll be much of an issue for me because I like dealing with children, and I'm a very ongoing social person, I think I'd get along with the students and hopefully with the staff.
I plan on studying abroad in Japan while staying with a Japanese family so I can learn about Japanese etiquette firsthand and improve somewhat on my Japanese.
I did some researching online on how to get started in Japan after I get my Masters degree in TESOL, and I came across the JET Program and INTERAC, I'm not sure entirely what these are about? Can someone explain to me or give me some information about these? All I've heard is they both offer opportunities to come work in Japan for X amount of years, and after your X years are over, they're done holding your hand and you have to leave.
Anyhow, I don't want to impede anyone here by creating a wall of text. If anyone can give me some information or assistance about moving to Japan and getting started, please PM me. Thank you.
