A lot of members have voiced negative feedback in regard to our current default style. I worked on a new & provisory default style ("JREF Tatami") based on our former tatami-themed forum skin (veterans of 2002 will probably still remember it).

The current default style will soon be replaced with "JREF Tatami". Also, we will phase out most of the other styles and use fixed width tables due to the new JS menues we have implemented.

Anyhow, I would appreciate your feedback as to the JREF Tatami style (you can select it from the Style dropdown at the bottom of each forum page). I have tested it on four different screens, and it appears to be smooth on the eyes.

Tried to edit your post, since I got redirected to http://www.oralb.com/international.asp by your link (in FF, that is, with Opera I got an error message). But I seem to have messed it up even more. If I load the thread in FF now, I get it in Tatami style already. Therefore I reinstated the original link now.

Sorry, I messed up the BB codes. Thanks for your editing attempt, Bossel. The new style should now be clickable.

By the way, are you planning to keep Orange-grey ? I personally cannot see the difference between that and tatami in eye-comfortability and wear. :-)

I currently use orange-gray. When I compare orange-gray (blue-grey text background) with tatami (bleached-green text background), I don't get as much contrast between text and background in tatami as I do in Orange-gray.

Does less contrast mean easier on the eye in prolonged use ?

edit: Sorry, I confused the JRef tatami with the tatami. In JRef-tatami the text backgound is comparable, while quoted text seems to have improved. However, the narrow text screen is a bit hampering. Is that to fit most 17" inch screens ?

Another thing is my cursor is constantly blinking so I can hardly see it. Why is it blinking so fast ?

edit 2: I have been experimenting with the new JRef-tatami interface for about an hour, and I begin to like it a lot. I love the improved contrast on the whole. Nice work, Thomas ! 🙂

You Know Us Old People......

can't handle change well. I'll stick to tatami green as long as I can.

😊

How do you change style?? I have always used the default one but willing to change....:D :D

Yuck. I do not like this tatami at all...

I prefer the Eupedia version... :(

Oh, I just found out where I can change the colour...so please disregard my earlier post.... 😊

I like the tatami colors. It's really easy on the eyes. I just stuck with it even after it changed and thought it was nicer than the previous default.

This may sound like a dumb question, but how do I get the color to stay? Or is that possible? Do I just have to manually change it each time I log in?

After some tests, apparently the style setting is saved though a cookie, and logging out also clears that cookie that stores the style id. So as of now, it looks like it's not possible to log out and log in and retain the personal setting...

Thanks for all the constructive feedback. 🙂

You should be able to change your personal default scheme via the UserCP.

I'm not really a fan of the color scheme. Sorry, I can't offer any more than that.:sorry:

Thanks for bringing back the Lavender color/style. I love it and, as I have tried all the others, it is the one I am most accustomed to using. Thanks again!

I was testing out the different colors and with the Sakura scheme,
the icons for "Forum Contains New Posts" and NO new posts
look the same. It could be just my computer...
