Need some advice for courting a Japanese exchange student

Hero, my only advice to you is this. Be prepared for some hard times if they do come along. Email, chat IM and all that can be fine, but there will be times when real contact has no substitute and virtual connections are not enough. I do apologise for not remembering if she is herein the US with you, I am tired from work.

But I hope that your comment about marrying to not lose her is not your idea of what I posted.

Sometimes true love makes you think of ways to keep the one you love close to you that you never would have thought possible. All I can say is that I love her more than my own life and if I have to, I will do anything (illegal or otherwise) to get here here.

Anywho, I wish you only the best.

You either get nice smiles and last minute cancelations or straight out ignored. It can be a pain in the ***, at least aussie girls tell me where to stick it when they arent interested :D
not in my case they always come up with a crappy excuse. some classics I've heard are: "I'd really like to but my mu is feeling sick and I want to accompany her to the doctors!" or "im not feeling great today" and then you see them at the shops with their friends. " i thought you were sick?" "I was but I got better in about an hour" lol

"besides calling her anata and not her name is a little rude to begin with."

that's right!!! not positive, in fact knowing NOTHING about ME or HER (or anything else, for that matter).
i know that what i said was wrong on some level, but she STARTED CALLING ME ANATA FIRST, IN PERSON AND EMAIL.
and i'm not gone listen to NO loser foreigner tell me what's what in japanese language anyway! that's WHAT GOT ME INTO THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. get to steppin

"2. Japanese girls are the queens of leading guys on. They will say "yes" just to avoid embarrassment when they have no intention of showing up to a date. If they want to be more than just friends with you, you will know it within a week."

i agree with this

Antantrevolution that comment wasn't in anyway towards you or your relationship.

I had made a post a while back about seeing my girl and that we planned to get married in the future and someone commented saying, "Are you sure you 2 aren't getting married 'cause you're scared to lose eachother?"

Yes, I will also do anything for my girl. And I know virtual connections aren't enough.
She's visiting me in Febuary and I'll be visiting her in June or July. (The summer time, argh... lol)

I'm sorry about any confusion.

Nah man, that's cool. I wasn't sure because there are too many side arguments going on here that I didn't want to kick up another sh!tstorm on the side. Just making sure.

Well, just keep in mind that the road will be paved with difficulties, so don't get discouraged.

As for Japan in the summer, I can advise you on this.

1. Bring much deodorant.

2. Bring much hair gel.

3. If you need laxatives, bring those too they have very archaic methods of making you go...

4. You will shower at least FOUR times a day.

5. If you are bringing protection, it is best to leave the boxes closed and the unused items in the boxes that are opened because you will have to go into customs upon arrival and departure. Please do not be all smart and decide to have all of the unused items in a smaller bag because they will open that up and look at you like something is wrong with you. Then again it could have been the fact that I brought something like 64 of them. Even my fiance was kind of worried.

6. If you are taking sneakers, I don't care how much temptation you have not to wear socks with sneakers, do not give in. Within a week your sneaks will smell of death and you will get looks of death on that 14 hour flight home.

7. Drink lots of water, and lots of Nescafe in the morning.

8. BEER!

9. BEER!

10. BEER!

Peace,

Ant
