Hi guys, i'm in the process of writing a design document for a computer game i've been dreaming up since childhood (although it will probably never make it to a game ) and since it takes alot of influence from Japanese places and names, I am going to give it a Japanese title. The title I came up with that fits the story was; Torturous Shadows.

I'm hoping this would be seen as a clever play on words, as they both have 2 particular meanings that relate to the story in seperate ways. Both the main characters have troubled and tortured pasts (Torturous as in torture) and as such feel very unhappy/gloomy at times (shadow as in gloom/unhappiness) yet both the characters were born on the same day, resemble each other almost perfectly (shadow as in mirror image) and are destined to meet each other as legend fortold (Torturous as in twisted, meaning that both of the mirror images' have fates that are intertwined).

Now that the long explanation is over with, I wanted to know if someone could help me with the Romaji and Kanji for Torturous Shadows? Arigatou Gozaimasu~

Not sure, but maybe:

拷問の影 (goumon no kage)
拷問のような影 (goumon no youna kage)

Miki-san

You do realize, though, that when translated into Japanese, there will be no sense of double meaning? It's very, very difficult to create such a complex idea in one language and then change it over to another one. I would suggest keeping it in English or finding a title that matches in Japanese. It doesn't have to be a direct translation, but a phrase with similar meaning.

Just coined a word, 不鏡和音 for your title.

the literal translation of cacophony is 不協和音 but the the same phonetics as the above, Fukyowaon. And I applied kyo, or 鏡 with its meaning as mirror. So the literal English translation would be a chord with non mirror images.

i try to think in more different and flexible ways.
