I have tried to locate a song I used to love as a teenager but have had no luck so far.

The title of the song is "I GOT LOVE FOR YOU, RUBY". The version that I used to own was on a record album (vinyl) by a soul singer out of USA by the name of Teresa. The album, titled "Class Reunion" was arranged by Paul Shaffer of the Late Show With David Letterman fame. It was originally released in the late 70s or the early 80s.

I have done searches on google and other search engines but all I could find out was the song had been recorded by Frankie Valli and Glen Campbell. I don't even know if they are the same song.

The thing is that I was very young when I heard it and my English was very limited, so I do not remember much of the words to the song. The only line I sort of remember is this line from the chorus ;

" I got love for you, ruby / Like a sparrow (or a swallow) needs to fly / but I'd rather fall to earth than make you cry..."

The record that I had was something I just picked up on a whim at a import record store and I do not know much about the singer. I don't think she went on to make any more records.

I highly doubt it was ever released on CD, and since I do not own a record player, my hope was that somehow I could find the lyrics to the song so I could maybe sing it myself.

I know this is a long shot but if any of you old timers here have heard of the song (by any singers), any info you could share with me would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

OMFG! That IS the one!!!!

Alas, it is only available on vinyl... Maybe I am going to have to invest in a record player.

Thank you so much for finding this site, though. It really takes me back to my boyhood just looking at the cover photo and the song listing.

No problem! It gave me some good practice at doing searches!
