It gives the appearance of study taking place, but they have to be careful not to become complacent, as the total amount of Japanese instruction/exposure is still insufficient.

Oh, that is interesting. In other contexts 形が残る could refer to an accessory to a gift or whatnot so I never considered the phrase in a negative light.

Thanks for the helpful replies. Here's a casual expression (bold writing at the very end) I would like explained in this context please. This comes at the end of a text which used division and multiplication metaphorically, but maybe in this part they are used literally to create a kind of hint for the readers.

ということで、今日明日は休み。
休みの日は、掛け算割り算の日です。（何のこっちゃ）

The subject of ある is 耳, not "I". That's why ある is used.

Please give us the exact context. 分からせて means "Please let me understand" if アゲルカラ is not there.

This is from a video game. I understand the general meaning, but the second line here with 女神だって etc isn't perfectly understood by me. Both the だって and いても as well as the よさそう aren't perfectly clear to me in this sentence. I'm pretty sure though いても does not have an "even if" meaning here.

魔物が本当にいるなら、
女神だっていてもよさそうなものだが。
それを望むのは愚かだろうか？

Is it saying:

1. If there really are monsters then it might be a good thing if there's a goddess or such. Is it foolish to wish for that?

2. If there really are monsters a Goddess (if there is one etc) seems like a good thing though. Is it foolish to wish for that? (with emphasis on goddess from the だって maybe?)

3. If there really are monsters, then even if there is a goddess that might be a good thing. Is it foolish to wish for that?

Also, what is the exact function of だっていても in this sentence and similar constructions?

だって＝も/でも

This よさそう doesn't mean "good". ～てもよさそう is ～てもいい + そう. いてもよさそう means いてもおかしくなさそう/いそう "(lit.)it's not impossible/unnatural that the subject exists" here.

女神だっていてもよさそう
a goddess also could exist

(だが shows the speaker's doubt, like as いそうなものだが、実際はいないのだろう.)

Thanks. I have been reading it as 良さそう up until now. Is this way of saying いてもおかしくなさそう as いてもよさそう dialect or an old style of speech or just a casual way?

I'm sorry but I don't understand てもいい + そう or いてもいそう. Only example I understand is いてもおかしくなさそう.

よさそう is 良さそう, since いい is the same as 良い[よい].

I just rephrased the phrase with a similar expression in the same meaning to help understanding the meaning.
e.g.
そろそろ電車が来てもいいはずだ。＝そろそろ電車が来てもおかしくないはずだ。

It's not いてもいそう but just いそう（いる＋そう）. "いい＋そう" is よさそう and not いそう, as in "いい＋ない" is よくない and not いない/いくない.
