lol, that's a blast from the distant past. Also "I'm trying to start one budou" sounds a bit funny - I doubt you count "budous" as one budou, two budou - it's more a general term I think - it doesn't really need any counter.

Pox's "-tai to omotteimasu" is a great formula to use. You soften the "want" by saying "I'm thinking". You hear that a lot, especially in formal situations, or "omoimasu".

The "-you to shiteimasu" formula for "trying to" is more like when you are actually in the middle of doing something, rather than for announcing your future intentions. Like "I'm trying to send an email (but I haven't yet succeeded in doing so)"

Don't know. _I_ haven't heard them used but they are at least names listed in WWWJDIC's ENAMDIC.

In exactly one character, as far as I can tell. This is what I found on the web.

護刃、画像名から「ゆずりは」と読むことを知る。 原作知らないと絶対読めないような気がする。 というか「もりは」と読んでました。

 
Hello everyone, it's been a while. I'm back on this "Animal leader" Nintendo game again and have translated most of the next level but there are two kanji I just can't find, it's hard when they're so pixellated on a screen.

Here they are in situ, the lines containing the missing kanji, marked "?", are in red:

うす黄だけのカタチ こい黄のまざったカタチ；The light yellow only form is mixed with the dense yellow form.

こい黄だけのカタチと それぞれ？います； The dense yellow only form...

And here's a scribble of the kanji:

ニクのかすは １～６まい； There are 1 to 6 kinds of flesh transformations.

ニク１まいのドーブツをー節 6まいのドーブツを六節といいます； It is said that a one sheet of flesh animal is a one joint, a six sheet of flesh animal is a six joint.

ニクがふえるほど強くなります；By increasing flesh you become stronger...

Thanks Paul for the lighning response as ever. Both those would fit the context very well. I rushed to look at them on screen again and I think my sketches were pretty good likenesses, it's interesting how much they get compressed on screen. Thanks because I can now get onto the next level, looking forward to it - Edwin.
 

なるほど～。確かに、ちょっと原作を知らないと、読めそうにないです。

特殊な読み方をする（というより、無理やり読ませる）場合がある漢字のせいで、
日本の地名や人名は正しく読めないことが多々ありますね。
もう日本人を18年間やっていますけど、しょっちゅう読めない人名とかを見かけます。

Due to some kanjis which need special reading, there are many names of places, first names, or last names which people can't read correctly.
I'm Japanese, nevertheless often come across them.


By the way, I translated 特殊な読み方 into special reading.
Is this translation right?

You mean you've changed your nationality? [edit]I checked your profile - I guess from the 'Ethnicity : Japanese?' that one or both of your parents had moved to Japan from elsewhere.

Are you asking about the English or the Japanese?

Special reading is fine for the English, I think 特殊な読み方 is OK but I haven't been Japanese at all so I can't be sure.

I didn't have a confidence whether the words "special reading" is right or not.

And, what I tried to express in the previous post is the nuance"やっています" in English.But I couldn't do.
I changed "I have been Japanese" into "I'm Japanese".

Yeah "I have been Japanese for X years" has a strong implication that you were something else before. You'd only use it if you were trying to confuse someone as a joke.
 
just curious... how do would you say "I love you" in romajin? I'm just learning how to speak Japanese so unfortunately even know if the order of "I, Love and You" would be correct either. Could someone help me with this please?
 
Yeah, that... I have seen the "I love you" thing asked so many times that I want to throw my head through my computer any time I see it now. :banghead:

How to say something, I'm even sure how to word it in english, not to mention putting the words in japanese ^^ like..

describing the feel.. when you have your head against someones chest (during a hug) as being such a warm and cozy place.

Something, I guess, like "when my head is against your chest is the warmest cozy place to be" Sounds so lame ><

Not sure!! Please help me ^^ it's for a letter to my b/f.. congradulate me!! I wrote a whole page's worth or stuff in all japanese, that makes sence, on my own! (Cept this one sentence.. >.> I couldn't get the wording/order)

Probably you start with "atashi ni totte" so that you aren't speaking in general. You can say "futokoro ni dakareru" to refer to being held to someone's chest. However, "mune" might be more common than "futokoro". Cozy would probably be "kokochi yoi", I'm not sure. Because it's a "place" it might be "igokochi yoi".

"Atashi ni totte, [name] no mune ni dakareru no wa saikou kokochi yoi na no"
あたしにとって、【ＮＡＭＥ】の胸に抱かれるのは最高心地よいなの

I'm not a native speaker so hopefully one will come by.

In response to the sleep question above, you would probably say "mou nenakute wa naranai/narimasen" (or short informal version "mou nenakucha"). You would probably end with something too, like "Mou nenakute wa narimasen no de, kore de shitsurei itashimasu. Oyasumi nasai." That's a formal version. If you just say literally "I'm going to sleep" (watashi wa nemasu) you will sound too cold.
