Yeah, that's the key problem of the example sentence.

Quick question; if I said 疲れさせてしまいました within a certain context can that mean I made myself tired (but I didn't want to) or do I have to say 疲れさせられてしまいました?
I'm still trying to wrap my head around using the passive/causative so plus forgive me
Do you play soccer often (or "frequently")?How to say these in Japanese:
Do you often play football?
I play football usually/rarely.
Thanks.
緊張させる on the other hand, does make sense in the causative so is at least possible for implying strain or stress oneself mentally.... I believe in any case...having heard it. :?Quick question; if I said 疲れさせてしまいました within a certain context can that mean I made myself tired (but I didn't want to) or do I have to say 疲れさせられてしまいました?

Right, 緊張させる can be used as a reflexive verb in somewhat literary expressions, but generally the object 自分(自身)を wouldn't be omitted in that usage, as same as 疲れさせる.緊張させる on the other hand, does make sense in the causative so is at least possible for implying strain or stress oneself mentally....
