Question Need a bit of help finding an export company that will export Lexus car to overseas from America

It's in my title. Need a company in America that does it. So far I've had no luck in finding one. Any help most appreciated.

Have you tried a moving company like UHaul? There are other similar ones, too. You might have to time it with a visit to the US for the quote, etc. I have to admit, I've never shipped a car internationally before, but I've heard of it being done. At any rate, it would be worth reaching out to their "international experts" and see what they have to say.

However, it might be bette just to sell it and get a new one in Japan. I mean, the steering wheel will be on the wrong side once it arrives!

Might be worth a shot to contact the Lexus dealer you bought it from or another larger Lexus dealer. They may have a setup to sell to overseas buyers. When I was stationed in Japan , bringing in a foreign car was a nightmare of hoops the Japanese government made us jump through.

I think the import regulations on cars make it super difficult and expensive to import used cars, which is why its almost never done. I mean, physically getting a heavy item like an automobile to Japan is one thing - I guess it would fill up a half container (shipping container). That by itself is not prohibitively expensive. But then to get permission to get the thing off of the ship and onto Japanese soil would require a ton of modifications to the engine because the Japanese engine/exhaust/safety regulations are different from those in the US. All in, the cost of shipping and getting the car up to spec is something like US$25k (on top of the price of the car itself). This is why you don't see too many US cars on the road here.

One of the rules I remember way back then was "every" nut and bolt on the car had to be spray painted with some special paint which cost a fortune in labor time. The Navy pickup truck I drove had the steering wheel on the wrong side which sucked.

Yeah, I think we all thought you meant exporting to Japan.
Each country's import regulations are different. Russia will have different rules than Japan, and I'm guessing Russia will be just as restrictive as Japan. Especially now with the Ukraine situation, it is probably even more complicated than usual.

I don't know whether cars are included, but there are major trade sanctions against Russia right now due to what's happening in Ukraine. My assumption is that cars are included. Even given the benefit of a doubt, it's not like you live in Russia and are trying to ship your own car to yourself. From the government's point of view, this is either a sale or a gift, both of which the US does not want to encourage. At any rate, he's picked one of the worst possible times to get this car shipped to him.
