Although I think it's better at this beginning level to get in the habit of using です and not だ.. For once though your grammar is at least correct.
I agree. I use だ a lot myself but when I first started learning I tried to stick to です I was just so glad he had a grammatically correct sentence.Although I think it's better at this beginning level to get in the habit of using です and not だ.

It's no coincidence that you will find a lot of procrastinators and time wasters on forums such as these. I'm not excluding myself.I too find it hard to find the time to study. Likely for that same reason. Playing video games all the time. Although I do have time that I allocate to studying it's just not always consistent. One allocates time to what one finds important, perhaps the interest in studying Japanese this person has is limited to that allocation of time.
whole reason I'm leaning japanese is so I don't have to wait for the translator on novels & manga that have already been completed.
I did say it before but I'll say it again, the main reason I joined these forums was because I was having trouble understanding the particles and as far as conjugation goes, while I am certainly still iffy when it comes to identifying which sets (i.e. -u set or -ru set) to use, I can at least grasp the meaning when I read them. As for general equivelent of english words that will slowly be learned as I read the novels online after getting the hang of grammar correctly (since I can just look up new kanji/compounds on jisho).
Still waiting on the the genki books but for now I just want to ask about an attempt at a sentence made while pissballing about with my colleage at work, the sentence I was trying to create the equivalent of is "Navan go to the library and get your homework" (was using words I recently learned on memrise), my attempt looks like this: ナヴンは図書館へ行くと君の宿題に受ける
The "you" and "get" I haven't learnt yet so I had to look them up in a seperate app, tried looking for "retrieve" at first but that brought up a wierd result which I felt was incorrect after trying "get" instead, "you" brought up multiple results and I simply had to guess there, I'm also not confident に was the correct particle instead of を.
