Main reason for being rejected in the interview was that I failed to impress the person who was conducting it. This year, after doing a lot of thinking, I have made up my mind to apply for this scholarship again. But, the thing that always keeps me pushing away from pursuing this scholarship is that I'm already enrolled in a good university in my country. I am in second semester of Computer Science (bachelors) course. My thoughts are always juggling now-a-days. I cannot think clearly whether it is a good idea to pursue this. I mean, I love Computer Programming and I'm good at it and even if I do get selected for this scholarship this is the subject that I will pursue in Japan. I know most of you here are currently in high school, So my question here is directed towards the audience who is facing the same problem and especially those who have already been accepted for this scholarship. And, if a fellow Japanese comes by this post, could he tell me what is the stature of Information Technology and other related fields in Japan.
P.S In my country the tenure of this scholarship is of 3 years. First year for learning the Japanese Language and the next 2 for the real academic courses.

ok i think you have pursue your study i m already in the first year of pharmacy studies an i will apply and if it doesnt work i will forgot it because to loose more than 3year but japanese is great occasion i think you have to apply this for the last time and if you don't get you can aply at postgrauate after your graduation

I think the application period is the same on each country. here in the philippines, the deadline for submitting the application will be on may 29, 2015.

interview of mext scholarship.

i have a blem for fill the application form . for the eigth question i m currently a student on college at the first year . what i should take student or other ? wnd if i take over what i should write

Hmmm.. i see.. I think the interview questions will be in English or the language you use in your country. and i I think its your choice whether you answer the question in the interview session using your language or using English language. But I say it's a plus when you answer in English. But it's okay too if you answer using the language you're at most comfortable. :)
 
Note 2: Photographs (4.5×3.5 cm, taken within the past six months, upper body, full-faced, uncapped. Write your name and nationality on the reverse and paste them onto the Application Form and Placement Preference Form) attached to the original application must be originals; copies are not acceptable. It is acceptable to paste the data of photo on each application form and print it. (To print your photos and paste it on the application form is not allowed.)

Hello guys. I just wanna ask what this means? Im really confused. Do you have to paste the photograph as a soft copy? because if you do, you cant write your name and nationality in its reverse because printing it and pasting it is not allowed . :-/ thanks!

Yeah the embassy said they needed hard copy of the photo. what a confusing way to say it though, haha. and did you know? the applications in the philippines are open atlast :-D

Hello guys. Umm, is the japanese language very important in Social Science and Humanities? Or is it just like Natural Sciences when you can just neglect it? Thanks. . .

It is important in careers that require a high knowledge of Japanese , as Japanese language , literature, etc.

Yeah it really is. But is it important for the qualifying exam? Does student who have zero knowledge in japanese language have little chance in passing Social Science and Humanities?

The application period does differ from country to country~
And the interview is done in either English or Japanese

You write the stuff on the back and then paste it on~ the reason they ask you to write it on the back is in case the photo comes off at some point, so they know who's application it came from ^^

Japanese may help a little but it is not necessary~ it's more so they can just get an idea of your Japanese level

What you should really focus on is math..even if you're in Social Sciences they put more weight on it than you'd think..

I'm from Brazil and I am going to apply for the mext undergraduate scholarship this year. I applied last year too, but unfortunately I failed the exam :(
My achilles heel is Math, but this time I think I am a lot more prepared (last time I didn't have time to study calculus), so I'm more confident about passing the exam :) (but of course I'm still nervous, the math test IS very difficult after all lol)
By the way, I'm aiming for the japanese language course. My second choice is pedagogy and for the third choice I'm still thinking about it ^^

You mean how was the japanese test? (If this is not what you asked, perdón >.<)
Well the test is not extremely hard but is not easy either :/ It has three parts A, B and C (for basic, intermediate and advanced). Since I study japanese by myself I can't be totally sure, but I would say my japanese is intermediate, so for me the A part was very easy because it doesn't have a lot of kanji and the texts and questions are more simple than in B and C. The B part was a little hard, but I could understand most of the texts and write some of the kanjis that were requested, although I could not remember some of them. But I think that even a person with basic knowledge of japanese would be able to answer some of the B section questions. As for the C part, to be honest, I think I could only answer one or two questions, because the kanjis used in the texts were too difficult for me.
For the people that are worried about the japanese test (and just like me need to get a good score), I recommend reading a lot of texts in japanese in order to improve your vocabulary, and also learning as much kanjis as you can, because you will have to convert words from kanji to hiragana and from hiragana into kanji (you will also need to know a lot of kanjis to be able to read the texts that have no furiganas in the C part).
When me and the other contestants were taking the japanese test, the examiner told us to not answer the questions we didn't know if our chosen course did not require a high knowledge of japanese (Natural Science A and B), because the japanese test is only to measure your knowledge of the language. People that are aiming for Humanities A and B have to get a good score though.
 
i want to know if i apply for mext if apply for another scholarship too. i see sehomething like that in

Can you recommend free sites and links for learning japanese language, especially in kanji? When I tried searching in google, i wasnt getting anywhere. thanks a lot ! :-D
