Guess that's the best approach here's a list of direct placement options.Note that 2 indicates only English is required on form.

its for Atlanta but i'm sure available positions should be the same for every country.Only kochi university offers Biology but no med where you only need to know English but there's only one position and for the others who need to know Japanese the other study fields are rare and number of admitted students is bad, the chances of getting a scholarship is hard enough without those odds.You should just apply normally because someone is just possibly making a mistake at the Embassy.
 

I explained that to the person who represented the Embassy. I also went on to say that I have spoken to successful scholars who didn't know a word of Japanese and secured the scholarship...

Also another point I indicated to said person. But there's only so much I can say and do... All in all, I won't let it discourage me and I'll still apply for it!

I feel kinda lame to ask this but over the Easter the whole scholarship thing was discussed with some friends and relatives and they did a pretty good job on making me doubtful..I'm aware that there are dangers when going to a distant country,especially if you're to live there,I know I'm not gonna know anyone and I know that I'm not really the most responsible person in the world But I still really wanna go to Japan,do something about my future and generally change my life completely ..I feel I should try for this and do my best to be ready if the times comes even though everyone's telling me to either give up or wait for a year..Do you guys think I should still try for it? >.<
 

You're not lame for asking that haha I'm pretty sure a lot of us are scared about moving far away from our families, while others are too excited about living in Japan to even think about anything else xD
Honestly, there's danger everywhere as far as I'm concerned. A lot of us won't know anyone in Japan (unless you're from Indonesia or Malaysia where they take scholars by the dozen )
But one thing I've noticed is that people try to make contact with other applicants (also why I started this forum) so, if in the event we do get the scholarship, we won't be completely alone. We know someone. I'm not exactly the most responsible person either. 18 years old and I've almost burnt down the house because I forgot my sausage on the stove... trice...
If anything it counts for anything, I believe living on your own will make you more responsible haha

If you really want to study in Japan, don't doubt yourself. Go for it! We all have our reasons, be it financially or your love for Japanese culture. Don't let fear of a new environment hold you back!
 

Of course! As keshant said, don't let fear of the unknown stop you. If it's really what you want to do then by all means try it. It's worth a shot.
 

Like others have said just go for it.

And compared to you my ship is heading to Bermuda Triangle. In my case, I'm getting close to my finals in a university in my country. If I apply for the scholarship this year and eventually win it, I should be leaving for Japan sometime in April, but that is exactly in the middle of my finals although I'm not studying medicine. So I'm very confused on what to do. This is my last chance to apply for it because I might be overage to apply for it. I might just quit and I can't apply for post graduate because I should be going for medicine by then. My dad doesn't like the idea, some of my friends said I should try my luck and some said I should forget about it and I really want to study medicine and want to do so in Japan.

So you have not much to worry about like me.

So guys does anyone know if I'm able to apply to courses taught in English through the scholarship? I am very interested in the Faculty of Liberal Arts in Sophia University or Japan in East Asia program, but I do not know if I can apply to these programs through MEXT. Does anyone know? One more question, how much does the Japanese weigh in Social Sciences? Is it important to be at an advanced level even though I'm applying to courses taught in English?

Ok. So I spent 20 minutes just staring at 6. Something just feels off about it :S

However, I found a solution to 7. It involves raito so please bear with me. I'm not good at explaining Math logic...

So we're told 0.1 mg inulin is in 1mL of fluid in the body. We can write this as 0.1mg : 1mL
As we're dealing with raitos, the raito of g to L is also the same. Therefore, we can re-write this as 0.1g: 1L
Now, if we multiply both sides by 10 so our raito is easier to deal with, we get 1g : 10L
Finally, we're told that there is 1.2 g in the urine. So we multiply both sides by 1.2 and we get 1.2g : 12 L

Answer: 12L of extracellular fluid is in the human body.

Wait, if I apply the same logic for 6, then that would mean for every 14mg of inulin, 140 mL of fluid had to have been filtered....
If anyone who is doing Biology figures out 6, please post a solution >_<

Man, I hope you guys do great on those biology, chemistry, and physics exams whichever ones you are taking cause i am terrible at the sciences. I think HAL Tokyo would be a cool place of study but it requires natural sciences and I dont think it has an undergraduate program.

Anyway, i wanna know how you guys are doing with the studying for the exams; what are your goals for it?
Here are mine:
English: At least 95/100 cause really it's my native language and everyone scores awesome on it
Japanese: Maybe 150/300 since there are 3 tests
Math: i need at least a 60/100.
Biology/Physics/Chemistry: Not required
Interview: If they scored the interview out of 100, I would aim for about a 90/100

By the way, how do the exams and interviews work in your countries?? In my country, everyone takes exams and interviews. I called my consulate and she said that there are exams in the interviews.
 
I created an account just because of this thread. [MENTION=61119]drewa[/MENTION] I am reaaaaaally worried about those exams. I'm aiming for Information Engineering (Natural Sciences-A), so if I get past the first stage, I would have to tackle that barrage of tests :/ Also, the fact that most Latin American countries' education systems are subpar compared to other countries' (including Japan, of course) isn't much help. I am finishing my second year of engineering, and those tests look way difficult.

English: This is my only chance to get a 100%, I'm pretty confident on this one.
Japanese: A granted 0.
Math: I'm studying like a madman to achieve a 50%, which might as well be impossible.
Physics: Since math is my priority, I don't know if I will have time to study this. My hopes aren't higher than 20%, and I'm being too optimistic.
Chemistry: Same as above, though I think I could pull off a 30%.

In my country, as far as I know, you only take exams once. If you didn't fail, you go straight to the interviews.

Also, I read somewhere a couple of hours ago that a score of 220 (adding all individual test scores, and I guess this only applies to Natural Sciences) is enough to get you to the interviews. Anyone can confirm/deny this?
 
Yea, I got the same thing too. There's something off with the no. 6
 
Hmmm, if we need a total score of 220 then that means you really can't get any lower than a 73 on each test... which is only an issue for math!

Chancey,your case sounds pretty complicated..I'm not really sure what would be the best thing to do but since it's your last chance to apply for this,I say you should go for it,especially since you really wanna study in Japan..

Reading that article's almost got me more stressed about the interview rather than the paperwork or the exams.. xD
What are you supposed to say if you hope to stay in Japan after the five years,rather than return to your country?

About your last question, I will tell them it will be an honour if I were to be retained to work in their country but I will like to come back to my country to put to use all that I've learned while in Japan.
 
Knowing me i might say something stupid during the interview randomly like "chicken tenders" and then ill scare them away hahaha id be so mad at myself xD
 
At least you will say something. How about going stiff as soon as you are called and stammer as you struggle to remember your name and visibly shaking when you exchanged handshakes with the interviewers.
