Monbukagakusho Undergraduate 2015

Hi,

I'm Arjay from the Philipines, I'm so glad I found this forum!I thought I was the only one in my country that REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY wants to be selected in this scholarship. I went to the embassy of Japan here and eventhough the application already started last last month (I think) , I was shocked to see the log sheet of people who inquired 'bout this scholarship,and the total is only less than 10.....But anyway,I was kinda glad bec the embassy told me that they have no quota,,as long as you pass,you pass (maybe it's because very few are applying in my country?), so my only competition is with myself....

I'm almost finished with all my documents,,just waiting for my transcript and I'm glad that it will only take 1 week so I'll be able to meet the deadline.

I've been studying like crazy since March because I REALLY WANT THIS scholarship...,,,(i actually started to doubt my sanity because i'm like obsessed to get this,,hehe,,but heck If that's what it takes to pass the exam, I'll even study 20 hours a day if I can!!!!!)

I'll be 21 next year so this is my first and last chance.,I'm already a 2nd year electrical engineering student here in the philippines,but I'm willing to give up my 2 years in college here if I get lucky with this scholarship!

I've been reviewing the past exams, but I'm really scared in Chemistry more than math because we've already tackled diferential and integral calc in my uni, but for chemistry the subject is VERY BROAD and like,am I supposed to memorize the solubility properties of compounds in HCL or in water and know what will happen to element A if combined with Element B?,,,If it's just calculation problems or stoichiometry,I may stood a chance,,,but I'm really lost when it comes to general knowledge like which compound has the lowest boiling point and whatnot...May I ask what reference are you guys using for chem?THanks!!!

Good point..just depends if you wanna be able to communicate with home from the first day I'd say..It'd be rather comforting to know you can..
Btw, drewa I had read on this blog from a girl who was in the Tokyo University for the first year that if you want internet on the first day you should bring a LAN cable with you or otherwise you can buy one when you get the chance..

Come to think of it,does anyone have any info from people about the Osaka University? The blog and vlog I follow,both girls are in Tokyo.. ^^;

Really? Somehow I thought the Philippines would have lots of applicants.. o.o

I never ever ever ever ever have heard any word from applicants who are in Osaka rather than Tokyo. I always only hear from applicants sent to Tokyo.
And thanks for the info about the LAN cable. I'll have to bring one of those with me so I can Skype with my mom when I'm there.
Here in America my mom gets off of work at about the same time that I would be waking up in Japan. So I don't think it will work to Skype on week day mornings but on weekends it'll work perfectly.
Her and me could also Skype if she is willing to stay up a bit late.

I see..it's like all the people who went to Osaka vanished of the face of the earth.. o.o
Kinda funny how big the time differences can be..Heh,that's pretty good ^^

Lol kinda mysterious...........you make it sound like a paranormal investigation or something. :?

I actually never noticed that all the info and tips we were receiving were from Tokyo only. I wanted to actually go to Osaka but not any more because I rather "hope" for the option I know more about.

xDDD Maybe we should make it a show.. "Osaka:The Lost Students"

Yeah..I looked up some pictures of Osaka and it looks wonderful but I seriously know nothing about it..then again I haven't really done any research..Tokyo always seems to catch my interest first.. ^^;

Hmmmm good title, sounds like a documentary you would find on the discovery channel.......

Tokyo is better anyway.Tell someone you are going to Japan and I bet you the first thing that pops into their head is Tokyo.Tell them that you are not going to Tokyo but Osaka and they will give you a "that doesn't count" look.

My friend just finished his year in Osaka... Would you like me to ask him any questions?

Heh xDD

True..but mostly cause Tokyo's more heard of and has all the glory..

If you could,it be great..We could get an idea of what it's like living there :3

I'd appreciate if anyone would be so kind to send me exams of the previous years. I had them on some dropbox link which got deleted just before I decided to actually download them
Thanks!

Hey guys ^^
Been following this thread for a while now and am going to apply for the scholarship. Only thing is I am going for the college of tech one, not undergrad. Their selection is very similar though. Squishy could you please tell me where you got that dropbox link from? I would really like to find the previous college of tech exams too, but it's really hard. It would help me out a lot!

Also, I heard you talking about a line chatroom. How is that going? Could I join?

Thank you

I found it on this thread.. ^^;
I hope you manage to find them! ^^

Thanks!

My bad search for drewarnold and send him a message.

Survivor xDDD
Sounds like it's time for chapter two of the documentary..

Hey there ^_^ ! I'm also planning to apply for this scholarship, undergraduate, natural sciences B and C.

I have a couple of questions;

In the application form, what do they mean by "Field of study you specialised in at high school"? I don't know what to write there. I'm doing A levels in biology, chemistry and maths.

Also, what year does elementary school end? And is "lower secondary" the rest of the school years?

Thank you and good luck to everyone!

By the way, does any of you know how much the minimum score needed to be recommended by the embassy is? The embassy lady told me that such a minimum exists, but she isn't allowed to tell me. :/

Also, I would watch your movie haha
