Wow...it seems there still are people who don't act like the typical stereotype afterall ☝
The things marked in red got my attention, I don't know how it's possible to live with eachother, married without even bothering with eachother :? And the aidgroups...djeeses...it sounds like it's worse than drug/alcoholaddicts !! ☝

Nice Move !

Golden article, Rock Lee !
Where did you find this informative, humorous, and partially bilingual article where I can practice some Japanese as well ? Among others, I've found this part notably interesting.

Genuine remorse happens so rarely in life (does it ?) that when it does happen, I can only admire those people who were capable, honest, and brave enough to make that big jump. What interests me is this question: once the wife has moved from rosy expectation (wedding +_ months) to dissatisfaction (6 moths to 1 yr) to resistence (1 yr to 3 yrs) to depression (3 yrs to 6 yrs) to denial (6 yrs to 9 yrs) to finally arrive at acceptance (9 yrs to 10 yrs) and inner peace; after all that struggle, would not some wives resist the change, and get infinitely insulted and maddened by it ? Would not at least some wives seek revenge by flatly rejecting such an amorous maneuver ? Contrary to popular belief of the West and US Amecian stereotypes, the partitioned marriage space has obvious benefits regardless of whether the couple is in love or not. In fact having independent space can be the flower bed of an infintely productive relationship for the couple as in any relationship IMO. Hence there is much real wisdom in such marriage setups many Japanese couple have been practicing. I honestly believe there might be some resistence from the previously forlorn house wives for the sudden change. Yet for those strong, brave couples who manage to kindle the newly found love goes my bravo ! :romance:

and are subsequently more eager to repair the damage inflicted by years of bad marriage.

I would say, based on my experience and the Japanese men I knew, it is way more than half. From the Japanese men I knew I would say 90% had no physical relations with their wife after children were born. It was like they were just going through the motions for the sake of the kids and the family as a whole. This didn't mean that they didn't love their wife. But to me it was a different kind of love. Not the romantic kind that those in the west or other countries are used to.

The remaining 10% were very much in love with their wives physically and romantically. It was really a rare and nice thing to see.

I agree.

I honestly believe that my husband believes that providing for us(and I mean money) is enough. It seems like showing affection no longer has a place in our marriage. Well, it's very scarce, I should say.

The Japanese, as a whole and as I see it, are so very complicated when it comes to these matters. Not only do they have this view that providing for the family materialistically is a sufficient amount of love, they also believe something like trust automatically comes with a relationship. No reassurance of love or trust should ever be needed. It is very, very irritating, if you ask me. Especially for a (somewhat) needy Westerner.

At last, someone put this into words for me. I have found this to be the case with a lot of the women i had dated, and it was a huge roadblock in the relationships.

I'm sorry, I find your post ambiguous. Is it this part you're talking about (in which case would concern the Japanese women you dated)
they also believe something like trust automatically comes with a relationship. No reassurance of love or trust should ever be needed.

or this part ?(which would be Western women)

When they feel comfortable enough to stop acting needy and talk to you on a human level is sufficient for me....the first time I ended a phone conversation with "I'm always happy to get to talk with you" he got so emotional I thought it was taken like a declaration of love. From that point on, I eased up on the rhetoric, except for "Ogenki" of course which seems to be enough....
