At first, it was difficult to give up carrying a wallet. I finally convinced myself that I really didn't need to carry on a daily basis, punch cards for record stores in cities where I didn't live, department store cards for stores where I might go once a year, a card reminding me of the combination to the lock on my gym locker that I use almost every day, my PADI certification card that I seldom use anymore at all, and notes that I wrote to myself and never read again, not to mention various pieces of paper with faded ink and so fused together and fossilized from repeated exposure to butt sweat that I have no idea what it ever was to begin with.
