the thing is, we graduate from high school around may-june here and college year starts from september-october.so "if" *yes thats a huge if right there == * i get selected in mext, then will my classes start that year only?

If you are applying through the embassy it is a year before you would start the course. For example, if you applied to MEXT this spring you would start in April next year. If your program starts in Sept. then you can still go in April and just study Japanese or do research until Sept. or I think you can ask to wait until Sept. to go. Either way it would start next year not this Fall. I hope this helps.
