I am a student from the USA shooting for the Senshugakko MEXT scholarship on 2014. I plan on studying industrial design or product design (these two fields are so similar that there are a lot of overlap). I am highly interested in Kobe Design University.
However, I read on a thread somewhere here that students from the USA have a harder time getting the Senshugakko or even the undergraduate scholarship because we are a developed country.
Does anyone from a developed country have experiences trying to get senshugakko? If so, could you share with me your experiences in the application process (specifically, on the university selection)?
Also, are there other alternatives to MEXT for privately-financed students? I found JASSO's EJU but it seems to have halted in 2011.
