Yeah if two universities nominate you to MEXT at the same time, you will be disqualified. That's why I learned from my advisor when applying to MEXT through Titech. So be careful with your choice.
thank you very much for your information! it's so lucky that i post to ask here. otherwise i would mail two applications!
btw, the two offers i've got are Keio U and U Tokyo. I am so afraid of failing in getting scholarship. which one do you think will have a higher chance?
Hi guys! nice to meet you all,
I am also applying MEXT scholarship by university recommendation,
just like you skyer, I am applying to Tokyo Institute of Technology.
My professor mailed me at feb 11 and told me that i am selected as a candidate of MEXT Scholarship. Now I'm just waiting for the official approval in june (I hope it will be good newsHave you got any news from your professor?Which department you are applying to?
Congrats! I got the news in mid December. I'm applying to Dept. of Computer Science. What is yours?
Now I'm waiting for the official announcement from the school in March, and then from MEXT in early July (what a long process!! I wonder why?).

=> as long as the university does not forbid, it's okay. I saw on Titech's website that they do not allow students to apply to MEXT for research student and IGP-A program at the same time. Students will get disqualified if they do do, so in your case where you already got admissions, I think it's OK.Hi, do you by any chance know if this is same by applying to two different courses through the same university?
=> this one you'd better ask your university directly. Making guess will do no good.I received an email confirming the university recommendation today, *****but I couldn't work out which course it was from (same faculty 'admissions office'!)
=> very low. I wouldn't say impossible cuzI know a case of rejection. However, if you do not have "glitches" in your profile (such as stopping school in the middle for no good reasons), you'll be fine. Also, in general (not a question directly to the quotee): what are the chances of rejection through university recommendation?
=> it's not written in MEXT's guidelines so far, so I am sure that it's fine with MEXT. As far as I can guess, the embassy nominated JASSO for you before or they are somehow in charge of JASSO scholarship at the same time, and they may put up that policy to give students more equal opportunities to study in Japan. If it's not written, you don't have to worry. Finally, does anyone know if getting a JASSO scholarship in the past will be a bar to MEXT?

You're welcome! Thanks! Swift and informative response!
[edit] Can I find the MEXT guidelines online?
thepie... I thought also that I'm late, but here I have professor of Japanese that is preparing students for MEXT for few years, so I'm hoping if she didn't tell me yet that I have to apply, that for Serbia is later.. I hope...
