Congratulations @chuzfastguy and @slothinchina. See you soon in Japan.Great to hear from another Tohoku University nominated student. I just heard back from my professor today that I was successful in getting the MEXT scholarship.
I was specifically nominated by the School of Engineering.
Looking forward to seeing you up there.
I'm also thinking about that a few hours ago before you post this question. He he he. Basically, upon reviewing MEXT's website it says there that the usual number of years for Master's is up to 1.5 years, BUT, there are other courses that take up to 2 years maximum to complete. @黒カピテンHai brothers and sisters!
I would like to ask you about MEXT scholarship. I am wondering whether all of you here are applying as master or research student? Actually, I am a little confused coz when I read about the MEXT memorandum, the period of scholarship is written from Oct 17-March 2019, while I am applying for 2-years master program. How about you?
Hey Tsukubadai mate! I just received the confirmation by today. From my understanding, you need to enroll for Research Student first (normally 1-2 semester) then upon passing the entrance exam, you may start as Master Student or PhD Student (in my case). Then, you may extend the scholarship period if you haven't completed your master requirements.Hai brothers and sisters!

Finally! Congratulation Ezu!!!! Hopefully, your study will be successful in Tsukubadai.Hey Tsukubadai mate! I just received the confirmation by today. Okay I understand now your situation. Since you're applying as a Research Student(not Master's degree applicant), you will need to take their entrance examination, by all means. @黒カピテンFinally! Congratulation Ezu!!!! Hopefully, your study will be successful in Tsukubadai.
Thank you for your explanation. But, in my case T-LSI program require me to take entrance examination for master program this friday, I guess if my status will be Research Student first, I don't need to take entrance exam, right?
There was a JREF member and he told me that this link isn't working properly. That's why I will try to post the link again.Hello folks! I would like to share this experience with you because I don't wanna let you guys to this again in the future. Thank you and best of luck for your MEXT application.

Help guys! I have one more question, when are you going to receive your documents to process? Mine will be around mid-July. How about yours? Hope we can update each other once you receive your documents. Thank you in advance for your responses.
Is certificate of scholarship and letter of acceptance the same? Did they send it to you via Express mail?hey there, i just received my certificate of scholarship from osaka yesterday.
waiting for august to process my visa

I think they are different. I think certificate of scholarship is the proof that Japan government is the sponsor for your study in Japan and you will use it for applying visa, whereas letter of acceptance is proof that you are accepted in the university. I received letter of acceptance in April through DHL, and now waiting for MEXT official results in July. University will send me another parcel after final result come out.Is certificate of scholarship and letter of acceptance the same? Did they send it to you via Express mail?
