MEXT Scholarship through University Recommendation

Hi, Lemylinh,
Do you have any facebook accounts? If yes, please add my account as "henry". My hometown is Ca Mau. It's nice to share future information with you.

Not yet... . But today they email me that they will send the document in the beginning of August.

Well I am just an ordinary scholarship student so I submitted my pledge back in early june. But i think the deadline depends on department

The pledge for dorm won't be due till you move in. Enjoy the 500 yen one coin bowl (sushi bowl) at Osakana-club hama! Osakana-club hama is a famous cheap sushi restaurant in Kashiwa campus.

Lol okay. I guess the deadline for the pledge form is different for every scholarship. What kind of scholarship did you get? Did you get one directly from the University of Tokyo?

Btw, thanks for telling me about Osakana-club hama. I love sushi, so I'll be sure to check it out once I'm there in Kashiwa.

Oh yes. I got a university of tokyo scholarship and not the MEXT scholarship. Not much different from the MEXT scholarship, just the source of the scholarship is from the university and not the government. I suppose the deadline was different because I was accepted back in febraury.

Hello guys! I just received the good news today!MEXT email confirmation. Finally! The long wait is over!

"Dear Applicant,
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted
as a Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship student.

You will be registered as a student of the Osaka University Graduate School of Engineering
from October 1, 2016 if you complete the following procedures before coming to Japan.

First, you must sign the Pledge Form (see the attached PDF file)"

It's weird that I'd have to send again Pledge form, since I already sent one last April. Anyway hope to hear good news too for you guys.

Patience is a virtue.

Congratulations Deziree! Happy to hear you're bound for Osaka this October!

Thank you Kobayakawa. I did not expect though that it would be today, since I already gave up checking my mail from time to time. It became frustrating that I don't want to check my mail anymore. Hahahahahaha!

Hi Everyone!

Is anyone here a MEXT recipient and studying at Hokkaido university? I am some questions about flight details!
I'm from Ph, and I hope to travel from Cebu-Korea-Sapporo. Is this possible?thanks!

Hello Leez, as for MEXT rules, you will be given first one way ticket from the nearest airport to your country (i.e.in my case NAIA) straight to Kansai Airport. If you wish for connecting flights, you may want to request it to your supervisor/sensei, but I doubt if MEXT will grant it since they will issue tickets by batch.

Thank Deziree! I'm from Bacolod. So maybe i need a connecting flight from my town to Naia. But i'm wondering if cebu maybe a better option for me.
Are you near Naia? ^^

Few more days then. Whew. I really hope they'd tell us ASAP For some reason I found out that some were given their mext results and were asked to submit signed pledge form. I, however was asked to do so around month of April.haha.
I'm being asked to sign a pledge form also, but it's for my residence at the University of Tokyo's International Lodge in Kashiwa--not for the MEXT scholarship. Are there two pledge forms? One for MEXT and the other for your school dormitory?

Hi guys, sorry for answering this late! I am traveling abroad and had little access to internet. I have received the official news from MEXT as well! Congrats to you too! I am happy we can all feel better now and concentrate on preparing for our departure.
That being said, I have received the pledge form as well. Thanks for the info though!

Leez your flight details then would be from Cebu airport to the nearest airport in your University (Japan). You don't need to go to NAIA. You just tell them what's the nearest airport in your address.

I see. Thank you, Deziree!

But actually my friend recommended me to use NAIA, instead. haha
Do you some opinion about it?

I cannot recommend which one would better, since this would be my first international flight. Lol. I think as long as you can manage to go to NAIA regardless of the time of your flight (may it be midnight) then there won't be any problem. Because the thing that you must consider is, what if they would sched your flight in an inconvenient time? Will you be able to travel then?

Insh! I'm really glad you made it too. Our long patience surely paid off! Congratulations!

How are you guys?
Two days ago admin sent me air flight ticket application, and I chose Sept.27 as my 1st choice and Sept.26 as my 2nd choice. Since my lab can only fetch me on the 28th, and that's also the only date my dorm would let us in, then I would have to travel alone from kansai airport to Osaka University and book an accommodation for 1 or 2 nights.

I was asked by my university last week to choose the day of my flight to Japan from September 1 to 7. I indicated September 6 as my first choice and September 7 as my second choice in the airline ticket application form that they provided me. I'll be flying from Ninoy Aquino International Airport to Narita International Airport. No one from the university will fetch me upon my arrival in Japan, so you're fortunate that your lab will Btw, I was instructed by my university to visit the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines for my student visa application after August 17, is it the same for you also?

Congratulations A.M! Haha!
Wow isn't that schedule too early? If it is September 1 or September 7? Our class will start on October 1, it is only on the 28th of Sept.that they will be able to pick me up, unfortunately I chose to arrive on the 26th or 27th haha, so I too will be traveling alone. Hoho.

And yes, I'm instructed to visit the embassy after August 17. I wonder what documents do we need to prepare before we go there.

Yeah, I think it's a bit early too, since classes will start in my graduate school either the last week of September or first week of October. I guess I'll just use the extra time to go around Tokyo. Traveling alone is okay with me. Living alone is what freaks me out the most, as I've never lived by myself. Hopefully, I relearn how to laundry and cook properly before my departure. LOL

I don't know also what documents they would need from us. None was mentioned in the MEXT letter aside instructing me to visit the embassy after August 17 for the student visa application. Hope we cross paths at the Japanese Embassy here in the Philippines

I am also arriving early September (although I chose to arrive in early september so I can get better used to where I will be living). You can think of the one month off as a one month vacation in Japan. I am planning on traveling other cities and explore as much as I can before class and research begins.
