Hello everyone. I've also been nominated for a MEXT scholarship through university recommendation. The Graduate Program in Sustainability Science-Global Leadership Initiative (GPSS-GLI) in the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences (GSFS), and the International Liaison Office (ILO), of the University of Tokyo nominated me.
Yesterday, I got an email from GSFS and ILO that they are already preparing and will send a package with visa information for and to me. Perhaps, this is an indication that my nomination has been successful. To other Todai MEXT scholarship nominees out there, is this the same for you as well? Have you been contacted regarding a package with visa information being prepared and to be sent to you by your respective graduate school? Thank you, and I hope to meet other MEXT scholarship nominees here

Thanks for answering my question, and congratulations to you also! See you around TodaiYep. My certificate of eligibility is currently traveling through EMS. Congrats on coming to todai. I will also accepted but through the IME graduate program for mechanical engineering masters.
Thank you for your very informative reply, and congratulations also to you for being accepted to Nagoya University. I'm glad that there are Filipinos like me and you who are also set to leave for their studies in Japan this September/October. Btw, are you also from the University of the Philippines?Congratulations on your nomination/selection! I got my visa information after returning the signed pledge form that the graduate school of the university (not Todai, but Nagoya U) sent me. It was also sent through EMS. It indicated that I can only apply for the visa starting 17th of August at the Japanese embassy in Manila.

Are you also from the University of the Philippines?
Anyway, I hope that there's an event for us all Filipino MEXT scholars to meet each other, by the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, before all of us depart for Japan
Yeah, I feel like we will get the final news by the end of July. I am just trusting them in the meanwhile, I really don't think they will give us bad news (I hope)!Hello Insh and Leeze, I applied in Osaka University under Graduate school of Engineering, department of Biotechnology. Still got no update. Will probably have to wait till end of July. The assistant of my sensei only asked me to which airport I prefer to depart and land.
I really hope they'd inform us asap.
Few more days then. Whew. I really hope they'd tell us ASAP For some reason I found out that some were given their mext results and were asked to submit signed pledge form. I, however was asked to do so around month of April.haha.Yeah, I feel like we will get the final news by the end of July. I'm being asked to sign a pledge form also, but it's for my residence at the University of Tokyo's International Lodge in Kashiwa--not for the MEXT scholarship. Are there two pledge forms? One for MEXT and the other for your school dormitory?I don't remember signing a pledge form. What information does it contain?

I'm also the Todai student and i have the same situation as you.
Yes, there are 2 PLEDGE (MEXT PLEDGE and Dormitory PLEDGE). I think MEXT PLEDGE may be sent to us by email like other Univ.
There is a dormitory pledge? I wasn't asked for one for mitaka international hall of residence. Did they send it to you in the same email of acceptance or was it on a separate email?
Yes, I found the dormitory pledge in the Housing Office page where OSTA has given us an access link in 【Application Result with Offer】 email Housing Office | Housing Information | Various Forms (Move-in title : Form 4).
Hey Lemylinh. Probably will be counted from the end of October. In my case I was granted the Jasso from October (2014)to August (2015), and though my flight was on the 24th of September and classes started from the first of October; I received the scholarship sometime around the end of October. Not sure about the MEXT but a situation where you would have count on your own money at first is highly likely. Good luck!Hi guys, just a small question here.
I was informed that my flight is being planned in 12th Sept and my classes will be from 26th Sept. And my scholarship will be paid at the end of Oct. So, my scholarship will be counted from Oct or from the flying date?
Anyone has experience on it?
Good question, but somehow misplaced. I think it would invite more answers if you make a separate thread in Japan Practical | Japan Forum as the range of audience is of broader background there. I believe there should be a bunch of native stores specialized in house interior not known outside Tokyo and not having websites. Only those who have lived in Tokyo for a couple of months know such stores.[/QUOTE]QUOTE="Ascetic Monk, post: 781789, member: 67458"]To everyone here, this is very random, have you guys thought about already where you're gonna buy stuff for your rooms? My future dormitory in UTokyo encourages us, residents, to buy our own beddings rather than rent from them, as it is cheaper. I've never been to Japan, so I've researched and found that there's an IKEA store near my UTokyo campus, Kashiwa. I'm hoping to find other IKEA-like stores in Japan, to have more financially sound options. So, if any of you know any, I'd appreciate it if you can share Thanks!

Hey NCP and Lawrence1, the International Liaison Office already sent to me by email the MEXT pledge form today. Have you both gotten yours too? I'm expected to send them a completed MEXT pledge form with my signature both by email (by July 29) and postmail (as soon as possible).Oh yes. You are right. I thought you meant a pledge that we need to submit immediately. Sorry for the confusion.
