I only got an email confirmation as part of my conversation with the Osaka University Graduate School of Human Sciences staff but not really a formal notice or letter stating so...
b4lmung, what exactly is this Certificate? I don't remember filling anything like that, but it was a while ago since I did all the paperwork, so I might have forgotten about it.
Reni, welcome to the waiting game, lol. Are your results also supposed to be delivered this month?
Anybody gets his/her result for MEXT scholarship (2015)? Do you have any information about the date of result announcement?
Hi guys!
I am also part of that waiting game. However, I got a different deadline : Uni told me I would get the result in June. It seems it can vary much : I was told by someone that received the scholarship last year that MEXT can keep you waiting till July... Let's brace ourselves
Thank you so much for your information, I am waiting too, but they said end of April and now 10 days passed.:banghead:
I was unaware about that, thanks. Can you tell me where I can find more information about that ?

I just received an e-mail from my professor, telling me that MEXT will announce the result around mid-May....
Hi everyone.
What's the difference between general and special recommendation? Is it about the degree program?
Looks like the program I applied to is under the special recommendation, because the university informed me that MEXT will notify them of the results by end of June and they (univ) will release the results of successful candidates by mid July.
From my understanding, in general recommendation, only 1-8 people from each uni could be nominated to be the scholarship recipient. Therefore, the selection process for general recommendation should be like this:
(1) each department/schools selects the candidates and recommends them to the higher-ups.
(2) the selection committee in each uni conducts another screening process and nominates the candidates to MEXT.
For special recommendation, each program receives the extra slots from MEXT. Thus, if you pass the selection process conducted by the program committee, it means that you will surely be nominated to MEXT.

Thanks, b4lmung! That's really helpful. I am somehow comforted that I won't be competing with candidates from other programs for the scholarship slot, though I'm still not sure about my chances. The univ I am applying to did not post their historical data on the % of their MEXT approved recommendations. Just crossing my fingers that I'll get a good news on July!
I was also unsure (I still am a bit, but a part of me feels reassured as well) since the % were not given by my univ. Apparently, we are in the same boat.
Which univ have you applied to, k78285 ?
I am applying at GRIPS. Which university are you applying for, Mallow? I am not sure if the % of MEXT grantees is something I can ask the university's admissions office. I don't want to push my luck so I can only wait for July. But the 100% approval rate of Kagoshima U for special recommendation is somehow reassuring. Good luck to us!
