MEXT Scholarship (Graduate Students) 2017

just received my Waseda LoA!!!! really happy about it, the funny thing is the last email from them was the confirmation of reception of documents, no emails from my advisor or the graduate school, no soft copy, just received the LoA out of the blue.

Congratulations!
This means they never let you know the admission results. The only way is to wait until you receive the mail they sent.
Hope everything will go well with mine too.

I just got my LoA from Waseda.

This happened to me with Doshisha, the only difference was that they contacted me saying my chosen professor wanted to interview me first :dead:, so I had the interview and I didn't hear from them again until the letter came in the post. After I got the physical copy they sent me an email with the scanned document

My case with Doshisha was a little different, they also contacted me for an interview and my chosen professor said he would help me getting the LoA as soon as possible, three days later I got the scanned document and 1 week later the physical copy.

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but I would recommend that you start by reading the guidelines for this and previous years, then, if something is not clear, come and ask specific questions.
Age is something that is clearly addressed.

Just received a mail from the Graduate School of Science of University of Tokyo that I have been granted the Certificate of Acceptance Its not my priority but I was worried I will end up with no LoA's. Cant. Stop. Smiling.

@indojindesu Congratulations! I also received the Certificate from the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology from UTokyo. Waiting for one more LoA! What is your priority by the way?

Congratulations ! Which LoA are you waiting for? My first preference will be The department of Genetics of SOKENDAI (Graduate University for Advanced Studies) I'm waiting for a LoA from them!

@indojindesu Nice! Mine is the Department of Media Design in Keio University. Keio just informed me that they have issued my LoA! Though I think it's rare for MEXT scholars to get accepted in Keio, so fingers crossed

Congratulations to everyone on their LOAs! I got mine from Keio last week, and just had confirmation for Waseda from my advisor at the Embassy. Now just waiting on Todai's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences - hopefully they'll announce things soon, if the other Graduate Schools are getting the results out there c:

Congrats on a great spread of schools!

What is your field, if you don't mind me asking?

It's an added bonus for you that you know exactly which city you will be staying in and can even get a start on some of the basic research for tokyo livin!

can any one tell about the syllabus of mext scholarship for m.sc in Japan

Congrats on the LOAs guys!
I would be really amazing getting to know some of you if we end up in the same universities, even though our areas might be different

I agree, when we know to which university we are going, we should do a list like the one they did last year, I would certainly like to give my thanks to all of you personally, this thread has been really helpful

Yes! I was thinking about the same! maybe we can update the Excel file they had created last year. It has name of the poster and their university.
We could also create a private facebook group so that even if we get placed at different universities we can plan and meet if we go to Japan

There are only English and Japanese exams for "research Student" Scholarship of MEXT. But you have to write a research proposal in your desired field of study and submit it to the Embassy of Japan in your country while applying.

Check out the Embassy of Japan's website in your country and contact them if the details aren't clear to you.

(dont ask for a research proposal I doubt someone will post it, one applicant did post it some pages back so check that out.)

In case of further doubts check the "studying in Japan" section of this website. Applicants have been posting and discussing on this forum for many years. check out the first page of this thread too. You will find many blogs linked by fellow applicants there.

Good Luck.

Thank you! And not at all - my field is in Social Science, geared at language education policy.

I've actually already been to Keio as an undergrad exchange student, so I know a little bit about life in the area c: Actually really hoping to get in to Keio because I'd much rather live and study in Kanagawa than Tokyo, haha!

Just out of curiosity, for those who get LOA from Keio, would you mind telling how was Keio ranked in your placement form?
There are rumours that you get LOA from Keio only if you put it as your first choice, so just wanna see if it's true.

Just got my LOA from Todai! So happy I got LOA's from all three of my choices c:

Keio is my first preference.

Hello Geminz, I put Keio as my first choice and in fact just received my third LoA from them, now I can really be at peace with this part of the process, let's see if someone put Keio as their second or third choice and got their LoA.

I actually put Keio as my second preference when I asked Keio for the LoA, but I changed my mind and put it as my first after I received the LoA from them. Then I submitted everything to the embassy.

Hello mina San , I want to apply for Mext scholarship in MBA . There are two ways of applying either by embassy or by the university. Kindly tell me which way is more efficient and effective. Arigato gozai masu .
